THE 2nd SRIWIJAYA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BASIC AND APPLIED SCIENCES (SICBAS 2021)

Message from Rector of Sriwijaya University

Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Anis Saggaff, MSCE, IPU

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to take this opportunity to welcome all participants of this conference by first offering praise and
gratitude to the presence of God Almighty for all His blessings and graces so that we can gather here in this online room in excellent
condition and health.

Distinguished keynote speakers and invited speakers, guests, and participants of the 2nd Sriwijaya International Conference on Basic and Applied Sciences with
the theme Sciences Development in The New Era. The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, is delighted to host this conference.

Right now, the world is not doing well. Various challenges come and go, one of which is the Covid-19 pandemic that has hit all countries worldwide. As humans,
we are responsible for the continuity of life today and in the future. Science is the answer key in overcoming existing problems. However, science must be applied
correctly so that its benefits can directly impact human welfare. As a researcher, we also need to realize that research cannot be done independently. Therefore,
the professional collaboration interdisciplinary, both national and international, is needed. It intended to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the
application of science for the sustainability of human life. Following the vision and mission of Sriwijaya University to become a world-class research university,
this international conference was held to facilitate natural and social scientists to meet, exchange, and promote their knowledge and technology so that they can
be utilized now or in the future. Hopefully, with the knowledge we have, we can make a real contribution in realizing an Indonesia that is superior, independent,
and able to compete and prosper its people.

To all our valued guests and participants, thank you for being here. Again, welcome and enjoy the conference.

THE 2nd SRIWIJAYA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BASIC AND APPLIED SCIENCES (SICBAS 2021)

General Conference Participant Guidelines

These guidelines are for all SICBAS conference participants (presenters, chairs, and discussants) to establish expectations.
To encourage interdisciplinary discussion among conference participants and audience members, we want to encourage:
• Participants have registered for the conference using the registration form on SICBAS 2021's website.
• Participants must attend the opening and closing ceremony via the Zoom Meeting application (https://s.id/SICBAS-2021)
• Interaction among session participants beforehand to maximize audience participation on the day of the session.
• Distillation of the research by the discussant(s) to identify its unique contribution to policy.
• Identification of relationships among the research presented, either by the presenters themselves or by the discussants.
• Give and take among participants—especially between researchers and practitioners.
• Creation of an environment to enhance understanding of issues and the attendant research informing them.
• e-Certificate will be given to the participant if the participant fills in the attendance list 2 times (at the beginning and the end of
the opening ceremony)
• Participants are expected to attend the closing ceremony in the afternoon.

Guidelines for Presenters

You received an email with contact information for all the people participating in your session (other presenters and chairs). The
following format is suggested as it has been found to work well within the 8 minutes time frame allotted for your presentation. Presenters
must attend and fill in the attendance list for the opening ceremony, parallel session, and closing ceremony to get an e-certificate

Explanation
Begin with a one-minute overview of the paper that includes the central question addressed and the major conclusions, to the
extent possible. Follow with the reasons listeners ought to accept the paper's conclusions: the underlying theory, description of
the evidence, methodological defense of the evidence, and connection to (and improvement upon) the existing literature. This
exposition differs from a journal article, but it is more appropriate to a conference format. Again, speaking is a more effective
way to get an explanation across than reading.

Presentation Technology
It is highly encouraged to utilize PowerPoint to prepare and display presentations. Presenters will need to provide their computers
and internet network. The Program Committee urges all conference participants to ensure that this technology does not interrupt
or delay a session. With a strict 35 minutes per panel session, even a minor delay can greatly hamper the success of a panel.
Remember that there will be less than 30 minutes available for setting up equipment before the start of most sessions.

Contents and Format of Presentation Slides

Try to economize on the number of slides in a presentation. Slides should be readable and displayed long enough for viewers to
comprehend the message they are supposed to convey (720p or 1080p for the video resolution). A good rule of thumb is one
substantive slide (a key exhibit, not an outline page) for every two minutes of presentation (or no more than 6 or 7 total slides per
presentation). Slides should serve as an aid but should not be read directly.

Note: Meeting ID and password for opening/closing ceremony and parallel session are different.

5
THE 2nd SRIWIJAYA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BASIC AND APPLIED SCIENCES (SICBAS 2021)

Guidelines for Chairs

The chair can be critical to the success of a session. The principal challenge for a chair is to enforce time allotments. A presenter that
runs over their allotted time uses time that belongs to another presenter or the audience. Therefore, SICBAS Committee asks chairs to
do the following:

Start the session on time and state the ground rules at the beginning of the discussion, including timing and commitment to the
discussion. Note that observing stated time limits shows respect for other presenters and the audience. Introduce all participants at the
beginning of the session. Monitor the clock. Presenters who appear to be off-track for completion on time should be cautioned mid-
presentation. SICBAS committee will supply co-chair to help chairs share screen the presenter's presentation via zoom meeting
application. In discussion session move, chairs need quickly to an open discussion that involves the audience. Be prepared to initiate
the question period if the audience is not engaged and ensure that questions and statements from the audience are short and to the
point.

In selecting the best presenter, the chair is asked to assess the presenter based on the criteria provided.
