MY LEARNING STYLE: VISUAL LEARNING

Every person is unique. Each person has his or her different ways of learning new information; and that
is your learning style. Learning style refers to the ways in which an individual gather, interpret and store
information. It might be visual, auditory, bodily kinesthetic, or read and write. It varies from individual to
individual since everyone has multiple intelligences. It is believed that you will best retain information in
a strategy where your learning style is met.

I believe I am a mixture of learning styles. However, I can say that my predominant learning style is
Visual. A visual learner learns best by seeing information, in which the learner learn efficiently with the
aid of images, pictures, or videos. This has been true to me my entire life. Being a visual learner, I like it
when the teacher use pictures or videos when teaching. I learn best when I see the speaker who is
talking.

Usually, when a teacher is teaching something new, they just give lecture, but when their lecture is
being aided with diagrams and write examples on the board, I can imagine it in my head and the
information is more likely to stay with me. I prefer to write instructions and keep my thoughts
organized. I can formulate new ideas after watching examples or instructional videos. Thus, I can say
that I am a visual learner.

It is one of the reasons that sometimes, I find answering the modules quite difficult because I'm not
used to learning without having a teacher explaining it in front of the class. So, I watch some videos in
the internet to aid me in understanding a lesson. For example, in order for me to better cook a certain
dish correctly, I have to scan my notes, review the recipe and watch videos.

I can't easily get instructions that I just heard. I must read them or else I won't be able to catch it up
appropriately and will end up doing the opposite thing. I have to read the instructions in order to make a
picture in my head and be able to remember it. Additionally, I usually avoid noisy environment when
studying because I can easily be distracted by sounds.

Taking detailed notes during lecture type classes also helps me in learning because it helps me visualize
the information later on while trying to recall it.I benefit greatly from highlighting, and color-coding
certain things in my notes. This helps me very much in retaining information in my lessons.

I tend to remember those facts quicker because I pay attention to the information while re-writing it.
Overall, my learniny style may not be your learning style because we are diverse individual. What's the
most important thing is, we will do our best in learning.
