THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Many countries are affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Most people infected with the

COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness. The virus spreads through

droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes. There

are no specific vaccines or treatments for the virus at this time (WHO, 2020). To restrict the

further transmission of the disease in the community, many of the affected countries have

decided to undergo complete lockdown. Most establishments are closed including educational

institutions. Universities around the world have had to adjust their teaching to now be carried out

online in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic (OCallaghan,2020). Distance learning, also

known as correspondence education or home study, is a form of education where there is little or

no face-to-face interaction between students and their instructors. Distance learning students

usually study from home, instead of attending physical classes (OxbridgeAcademy,2020). It is an

alternative way to continue education while implementing social distancing and lock down.

Learning new things can be in any form, we can learn from books, newspapers, other people, and

especially from the internet that can give us thousands of information that can help us widen our

knowledge. During this pandemic, Online classes are the most efficient way to help students

connect with the school and learning. In Don Bosco Technical Institute-Tarlac, one of the most

commonly used learning platform through online is the Quipper. This Online platform makes the

connection between students and teachers more accessible and very convenient but, are the

students and teachers satisfied with the use of this platform? Does this Quipper give them the

basic needs for their education? The satisfaction of the students and teachers towards Quipper
might affect their performance during classes. Satisfaction is equal to performance. If the

students and teachers are not satisfied with the use of Quipper, there is a high possibility that

they will get uncomfortable and may result to have a low performance.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine the satisfaction of using Quipper as an Online

learning platform of the Grade 12 Teachers and Students of Don Bosco Technical

Institute – Tarlac. Particularly, it aims to answer the following:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1. Age

2. What is the level of satisfaction of the Grade 12 Teachers and Students exhibit?

Hypothesis

Significance of the Study

This study will provide understanding about the Level of Satisfaction of teachers and

students of Don Bosco Technical Institute - Tarlac with the use of Quipper as an online factor.

The outcome of this study would be beneficial to the following:

To the Students. The proposed study serves to enhance students’ learning performance

in online classes. They will be able to widen their perspective why they are using Quipper for

Online Learning and will have a better understanding specifically about the matter or the subject

of this study.
To the Teachers. The result of this study might provide opportunities for the

management to efficiently plan targeted teaching strategies to help increase student’s and also

teachers performance with the use of online learning platforms.

To the Parents. The result of the study would also help parents to understand about how

well their sons/daughters perform with the use of Quipper as an online learning platform. The

outcome would also help them to support the improvements that might be made if their students

are not satisfied with the use of Quipper as an online learning platform.

To the Classroom Advisers. This study will help them understand why a student either

has a good or bad performance during online class. It would help the teachers have their guide on

what to do with students in some situations so that they could understand their students better

and give ample advice to the school administrator.

To the School Administrators. The results of this study would help determine what are

the factors they need to improve. To find and support the levels of satisfaction of teachers’ and

students’ would positively impact student’s and teachers’ performance in class.

To the Future Researchers. This could provide relevant data related to the research

undertakings. This might serve as their future reference and basis of information and related

literature to improve their prospective studies.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The general focus of this study is to determine the satisfaction of Students and Teachers

of Don Bosco Technical Institute-Tarlac in using Quipper as their online learning platform for

this specific school year. The researchers focus on how satisfied are the students and teachers in
using Quipper for their Online Learning and Teaching to determine as early as possible the

Improvements for these students and teachers to create a better learning platform that will help

them in the future. This study is only limited for the students and teachers of senior high school

of Don Bosco Technical Institute-Tarlac. Thus, the researcher will be using Random Sampling

Technique to determine the respondents of this study and will also use the Likert Scale to gather

data from the respondents.

Definition of Terms

The following terms are defined for better and easier understanding of the study, the

terms were defined according to their technical and functional meanings:

Covid-19. It is a disease caused by newly discovered coronavirus. It is common virus

that causes an infection in your nose, sinuses, or upper throat (WebMD, 2020).
