MINUTES OF MEETING

Highlights of the Meeting:

1.Dr. Ruel M. Mojica started the meeting by providing a brief background of the
SciCAT project. He discussed the role of CvSU and UP-ISSI in providing technical
assistance in preparing site development plans, securing environmental
compliance certificate, and in converting Silan Farm into a DOT-accredited farm
tourism site. He also emphasized that the project will not cover infrastructure
support to the farm.
2.Dr. Mojica provided a copy of the proposed project logo to the group. Dr. Fe N.
Dimero suggested to include the logo of PCAARRD in the logo.
3.Suggestions to have innovations in the farm were discussed such as establishment
of information booths with computer and headset, and themed landscapes. Mr. and
Mrs. Silan also shared some of the best practices and technologies of the farms
they visited.
4.Dr. Mojica also discussed the preparation of farm layout in collaboration with CEIT
undergraduate students specifically BS Civil Engineering and BS Agricultural
Engineering students. Two sections will be requested to survey the farm to develop
topographic map and site development plan.
5.The list of project expected outputs was also discussed to the group. Dr. Lilibeth
P. Novicio was assigned to spearhead the conduct of capacity building and other
related activities needed to meet the target number of trainees. Dr. Fe N. Dimero
will assist Dr. Novicio in identification and transfer of package of technologies
(POTs) to the farm. Dr. Dimero will also be responsible in providing assistance in
the application/registration of logos and other trademarks that will be developed for
the project. On the other hand, Dr. Yolanda A. llagan will oversee the production

and distribution of IEC materials and promotional videos. Dr. Mojica will spearhead
the preparation of customer satisfaction survey report.
 6.A meeting with LGU-lndang will be arranged to provide information about the
project and to discuss the possibility of formulating a municipal resolution
applicable to the project.
7.Dr. Mojica presented to the group the approved Line Item Budget and the
counterpart of CvSU, Silan Farm, and DOT. He also informed the farm owners
about the delay in the release of project funds. Purchase requests of supplies and
materials will be prepared in advance.
8.Mr. Eddie Silan reported their present activities/initiatives in the farm such as the
installation of water supply, construction of comfort rooms, and building of tree
house. He requested the assistance of CvSU on the preparation of water and
electrical installation layout/plan for the farm. Mr. Silan also showed his interest in
adopting technologies on vermicomposting.
9.Dr. Mojica enumerated the general requirements set by the Department of Tourism
to be accredited as a farm tourism site. The requirements include the availability of
comfort rooms, accommodation, restaurants, and pergola booth inside the farm.
