Document Development Exposition: White Paper

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
Since my Reaktion book was The Sea, I knew almost immediately that my topic would be about sea
level rise due to climate change. I have done many projects on this topic before in other classes, so I
was well prepared to do this assignment.

First Draft (for peer editing)

I admittedly ran low on time for this edit, so I am not the most proud of this one. It had a very
barebones overview of the problem, and the explanation for the solution I provided was very rushed.
I knew that this was something I would have to fix later, but I was scrambling for time this week, so I
just got something down and moved on. I learned a lot about time management this week.

Second Draft (for your packet)

Thankfully for this draft I had much more time to work on it. I was able to look into my sources more
carefully and provide better figures for the reader to look at. I was able to flesh out the problems and
solutions more, so I think this draft was an overall great improvement.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

For the final draft, I had some formatting errors that completely slipped my mind the first two times.
I added a Table of Figures, and labeled those related figures correctly. I also made an extremely
simple mistake in not using block style paragraphs instead of indented ones. This certainly taught me
to be a bit more careful in looking at the format of the documents I am creating.
