Document Development Exposition: Instructions

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
The instructions assignment was a little difficult for me especially just trying to figure out what to
write about. I tried to choose something simple that I believe some people mess up on like doing
laundry. I really enjoyed the little class activities we had to help perfect our document.

First Draft (for peer editing)

For the first draft, my peers did help me see where I could add more information to make it clear.
The main thing they helped with was the design. I struggled using word to find good designs that
didn’t make the instructions difficult to read. I learned how to go to the design tab in word which one
of my peers helped me find.

Second Draft (for your packet)

The second draft did not go too well. I thought I did better but after seeing the comments I knew it
needed improvement. Once I was able to look up more information on laundry and how to do it
correctly, I was able to make my instructions more detailed. I think my biggest issue was
downplaying how much information would be needed to make the instructions clear.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

The final draft went well, as I said once I did more research, I was able to make the instructions more
clear which seemed to be the biggest issue, also I added other links to be sure that I didn’t overload
the document. I enjoyed this assignment because it started off a better understanding of word and
how to use it, and it also helped me with writing in a clear tone.
