HYDRAULIC CEMENT SIEVE ANALYSIS TEST

This test method covers hydraulic cement fineness tests

performed using a sieve. The sieve frame should be made of a
circular metal matching the specified dimensions, fitted with
either a stainless steel woven-wire sieve cloth or an
electroformed forced nickel sieve sheet. Both the nozzle and
sieve shall not be subjected to corrosion by water. The nozzle
and pressure gauge should also conform to the specified
dimensions. This test method also covers sieve calibration
and cleaning procedures.
THESE ARE THE MATERIALS
NEEDED:
No. 200 Sieve and Tray
Cement, Trowel and Spoon
Clean and Dry White paper and Brush
Weighing Balance accurate up to 0.1 mg
FOR PROCEDURE:
CLEAN FIRST THE O.O75
( NO. 200 ) SIEVE USING
THE BRISTLE BRUSH.
THEN ATTACH THE
SIEVE TO THE PAN.
PLACE A 50g (W)
SAMPLE OF HYDRAULIC
CEMENT ON THE SIEVE.
PERFORM THE SIEVING
BY DOING HORIZONTAL
CIRCULAR MOTION ON
THE PAN TO AVOID THE
SPILLING OF THE
SAMPLE . NOW COVER
THE SIEVE.
HOLD THE COVERED
SIEVE IN ONE HAND
OVER THE COLLECTING
PAN. REMOVE THE PAN
FROM THE SIEVE.
REPLACE THE SIEVE IN
THE PAN, THEN
CAREFULLY REMOVE
THE COVER AND
RETURN ANY CEMENT
RESIDUE CAUGHT IN
THE COVER.
HOLD THE SIEVE IN
SLIGHTLY INCLINED
POSITION, OVER A
WHITE CLEAN AND DRY
PAPER.
STRIKE THE SIDE OF
THE SIEVE WITH THE
PALM IN AN UPWARD
STROKE AT THE RATE IF
25 STROKES PER 10
SECONDS FOR A TOTAL
OF 150 STROKES PER 1
MINUTE.
CAREFULLY OPEN THE
SET AND TRANSFER THE
RESIDUE ON THE SIEVE
TO A WHITE CLEAN AND
DRY PAPER, THEN
WEIGH THE CEMENT (R).
TAKE NOTE ALL THE
DATA GATHERED FROM
THE EXPERIMENT.
