ANALYSIS OF ANTACID

OBJECTIVES:
1. To determine the acid neitralizing capacity of an antacid.
2. To demonstrate the process of back titration.

INFERENCE (show reactions and comparison of two antacids)

In this experiment, we are comparing the reactions of two antacids which are Tums and Rolaid. Both brand of antacid conducted
titration test and back titration test. A small amount of grounded or powder antacid were put into empty flask separately. Next, distilled
water was added to the flasks and swirled a few minutes to dissolve the powdered antacid then 2-3 drops of phenopthalein was
added. After the two titration test, both antacid has a similar endpoint with the difference of only 0.13 mL.
