Subject: RE: RFI #11 FBE RTU Pipe Supports Installed Angle vs reviewed W8x15
STV has rejected the use of the single angle in-lieu of the W8.
They do provide the following option:
“To get it to work for the ~3500 lb units, we would need a double angle. So if one angle is already
installed, you could add a second back-to-back angle. They would need to be bolted together for
shear transfer (3/4” A325 bolt @ 12” OC).”
I reviewed this issue with Ahmed and Terry, and Ahmed provided the attached email to Doron
showing that the pieces in question were taken off as W8x15’s. I was not involved in Ahmed’s and
Doron’s conversations scoping the work, but would think that this would have been flagged if there
was any question.
