We are waiting for location of the 3,5000 lb load on the beam.
Please set up model to analyze the (3) green beams and on how to locally reinforce them where
need be.
For the 3 green beams:
We installed L6x 3-1/2” x 3/8”
Option 1: replace with W8x15
Option 2: Sister it with L6x3-1/2” x 3/8”, “They would need to be bolted together for shear
transfer (3/4” A325 bolt @ 12” OC).” Per email below

Please try these solutions:


For dimension A = 12’-10-1/8” or less, see where is overstressed provide localized
reinforcement. This is the bulk of work because we have (6) pier locations
For dimension A = 17’-0”, there is only one location, work on this last.

Please markup and show point loads, 3500 lbs, etc. on the drawing, so my engineer can analyze and
reinforce where need be and submit an alternate solution for review.

STV has rejected the use of the single angle in-lieu of the W8.
 
They do provide the following option: 
 
“To get it to work for the ~3500 lb units, we would need a double angle. So if one angle is already
installed, you could add a second back-to-back angle. They would need to be bolted together for
shear transfer (3/4” A325 bolt @ 12” OC).”
 
I reviewed this issue with Ahmed and Terry, and Ahmed provided the attached email to Doron
showing that the pieces in question were taken off as W8x15’s. I was not involved in Ahmed’s and
Doron’s conversations scoping the work, but would think that this would have been flagged if there
was any question.
