Many people, and perhaps even yourself, have experienced moments of feeling stuck in their
lives and going through the same routine day after day. The usual solution is to go on vacation.
However, there can be barriers to going on an all-out trip: getting time off from work, planning
the itinerary, and above all, the expenses! What if I told you that you could have the same
experience of a vacation and not have to leave town? I have discovered that the real elements
that make the vacation a “vacation” are having an experience where you feel like you are taken
care of, you are care-free and away from your regular life schedule and routines, and where
there’s good food so I have combined all these elements into my restaurant Oasis.
Using my ten years of experience as a dietitian, I have developed dishes for Oasis that are not
only nutritious, but delicious, and best of all, affordable. Oasis restaurant is a unique farm-to-
table experience that produces familiar and comforting dishes sourced primarily from our very
own gardens. One garden would be on-site, and a portion would be sectioned for outdoor dining
so our guests can have an immersive dining experience and get a true sense that they have gone
on vacation. Our other garden would be off-site and used for the restaurant, but also for
agriculturally and nutrition education. We would partner with local schools and organizations to
create a program that would educate our youth and community on how to grow their own
ingredients and learn about nutrition.
The cost for construction and development of our restaurant and gardens in a local plot would be
$200,000. Additionally, we would need $30,000 for kitchen equipment, $10,000 for licensing
and permits, and $20,000 for payroll and staffing. This would bring our total necessary funds to
$260,000 to get Oasis established.
I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your day to consider this business proposal. I
firmly believe that this restaurant will not only nourish our guests, but also our community and
that our restaurant, gardens, and food will transport you to your very own oasis. Please contact
me if you have any additional questions or if there is anything more I can provide to you for your
decision making process.
Sincerely,
Emily Perez

Mission Statement
Our mission is to create a unique farm-to-table dining experience that will nourish our customers
and our community. We pride ourselves on offering nutritious, high quality, local and
sustainably sourced ingredients at affordable prices, and providing excellent service to make you
In the United states 42.4% of adults are obese, 60% of people have a chronic disease and 40%
have two or more chronic diseases. (CDC, 2020; CDC, 2021) There are multiple key lifestyle
risks that contribute to developing chronic diseases and of them is poor nutrition. (CDC, 2021)
While many may be making efforts to eat more healthfully at home there are still very few
health-conscious options available if one wishes to enjoy time away with friends or family and
quality restaurant that serves fresh local ingredients making it more accessible to those with
wealth. People shouldn’t have to choose between eating healthy or going out and having new
experiences. For this reason, we need more restaurant options that serve high quality healthy
foods.
Oasis uses conventional foodservice preparation to ensure we are serving the best quality of
food. Also, by serving food that is freshly prepared, it helps to preserve the flavors, texture, and
Most of the ingredients for our menus come from our garden, and because we focus on growing
high yield produce, we are able to keep our prices lower, but still profitable, and focus on
sustainable production. (Gardener's Magazine, 2020) Our garden is entirely made up of organic
produce and herbs that are completely utilized daily for our freshly made dishes. The freshness
and nutrient dense ingredients really shine in the simple, yet elevated, vegetarian courses which
draw in a diverse clientele, but especially with our vegetarian and health-conscious guests.
Because we choose to enhance our dishes with simple ingredients, techniques, and preparations,
we can maintain a small well-trained staff that is cross-trained and able to cover preparing all
aspects of our menu. Also, we strategically select dishes, such as soups, salads, pizzas, etc. that
are easily prepared and more profitable. (QuickBooks Canada Team, 2019)
Market Analysis
The target population for Oasis are those who are health conscious, looking for plant forward
options and a new kind of dining experience. Healthy, sustainably sourced, and plant forward
eating has become increasingly popular over the years in America, and Oasis wants to meet the
demand and be accessible to more diverse peoples by also being affordable. In the U.S, 46% of
polled adults mostly, or always, eat a vegetarian or vegan item when eating out. (Stahler, 2019)
Our competitors may offer a healthier option such as seafood or high-quality vegetarian dishes,
but they also tend to be the more expensive items. While U.S consumers may be willing to pay
more for healthier options, Oasis wants to broaden healthy restaurant dining to be available to
more than just the wealthy. (Gagliardi, 2015) Oasis also wants to reach those who are looking for
a little escape from the day-to-day by providing an immersive restaurant environment lush with
greenery and nature; something that is missing in today’s more modern dining options.
Location:
Oasis is located on a lush 3-acre garden in Sonoma County to provide that true nature immersed
experience. This is also a great location for our restaurant because the county is a prime spot for
tourism being known as “wine country” for the plethora of wineries and vineyards in the area.
The emphasis of agriculture that Sonoma County has provides prime opportunities to provide the
high quality and nutrient dense foods we aim to prepare, and an ideal location to reach the
county was voted as being in the top 100 places in the U.S to live and top 20 best places for job
growth. (U.S. News, 2019; Forbes, 2019) The median income of the county is at $81,000, but
there is still 7.2% considered to be living in poverty and 30% of the population is of a minority
group so an affordable dining experience would do well here to be more accessible to the diverse
Conclusion:
Establishing our restaurant in Sonoma County enables us to reach our target population and sets
the optimal foundation for growing our own ingredients. Oasis’ garden promotes sustainability
and production of high quality, nutrient dense dishes at affordable prices so healthier dining is
more accessible. The garden also provides a lush dining environment so guests can experience a
little escape from the monotony that can stem from one’s usual daily life. Our restaurant’s style
appeals to many types of people, but especially to those that are looking for healthier options,
and plant-forward dining, and ultimately Oasis is providing an example of how restaurants can
