Introduction To The Event

Delhi Public School, Ranchi in association with Jharkhand State


Legal Services Authority(JHALSA) is organizing a "Pan India
Outreach and Awareness Programme" to celebrate "Azadi Ka
Amrit Mahotsav" commemorating 75 years of India's independence. The event is to
take place on the 13th of November, 2021 in the premises of DPS,Ranchi as a part
of the Legal Services Week from 8th to 14th November as declared by the National
Legal Services Authority(NALSA).

The showcase will witness the occurrence of five simultaneous inter-school state
level competitions.:-

1.) Extempore
2.) Elocution
3.) Essay
4.) Painting
5.) Rangoli Making

All the competitions will run simultaneously on the 14th of November, 2021 in the
campus of DPS, Ranchi. Students of Classes VIII-XII are allowed to participate in
the said competition. A screening test for the students of DPS Ranchi will be held to
scrutinise the interested students and finalize the contingent prior to the event. The
screening test will be held on the 8th of November from 4:00 PM, the meeting link to
the same is provided towards the end of the document.

● Rules of competition:-

1. Extempore: In this event, all the participants will compete individually.


Unique topics related to the theme will be assigned to each participant on the
spot. The time limit for each speech will be 3 minutes, exceeding this limit
may lead to penalties in the form of deduction of points, which shall be
informed by the judges prior to the commencement of the competition. An
extra 1 minute of rebuttal would be allotted on each participant for the other
participants and judges to ask questions on the basis of the given speech.

Eligibility:- Classes 8-12

Theme:- Fundamental rights, fundamental duties, the Indian Constitution,
India’s judicial-political system and women empowerment.
Time limit:- 3+1 mins (one minute of rebuttal)

2. Elocution: The participants would have to declaim a significant speech of


an eminent figure drawn over the judicial-political context. The participants
would also be required to take the guise of the personality whose speech they
are facsimiling. Each competitor will be given 4 minutes to make their oration.
The speech chosen by each participant should strictly pertain to the
undermentioned topics.

Topics:- Judicial-political system of India, human rights, constitution of India,


significant judicial cases, women empowerment and LGBT rights.
Time limit:- 4 minutes

3. Essay Writing: Participants will have to write an essay after having


picked a particular topic out of the 3-4 prompts provided to them, then and
there. Students are requested to prepare as broadly as possible, making sure
that their material spans all the realms of the theme assigned.

Theme:- Fundamental rights, fundamental duties, the Indian Constitution,


India’s judicial-political system and women empowerment.
Time Limit:- 1 hour

4. Painting: In this event, the participating students will mete out their artistic
best with paintings based on the topics provided to them on the spot. It is to
be noted that the participants will have to bring their own materials for this
event.

Theme:- Fundamental rights, fundamental duties, the Indian Constitution,


India’s judicial-political system and women empowerment.
Time Limit:- 1 hr 30 mins

5. Rangoli making: This will be a team event. Each school would be


required to send in 3-5 students to comprise a team. The team should have a
design prepared related to the theme of the event, which shall then be
illustrated in the given space on the day of the event. All teams are required to
bring their own materials for the competition.

Team size:- 3-5 students


Time limit:- 1 hour 30 minutes

● Screening and Selection :- 1.) For the Extempore and Elocution


competition, interested participants would need to join a zoom meeting
through the provided meeting ID, where they will be auditioned to select the
final four participants. Elocution participants are required to prepare the
speech that they wish to finally deliver on the day of the competition.
Extempore participants will be given topics on the spot.

2.) For the Essay, Painting and Rangoli competition, the interested students
are required to send in compositions based on the theme provided above to
the whatsapp numbers provided below by the 7th of November, 2021. The
layout of the rangoli composition that they wish to make on the competition
day have to be sent on the following numbers:-
