Rules & Regulations

Skit
1. Each participating school may register only one team.
2. The competition permits a minimum of four and a maximum of six participants per
team.
3. Each team will be allocated a performance time ranging from four to six minutes,
inclusive of stage setup and clearance.
4. The permissible languages for performances are Hindi, English, or Punjabi.
5. Costumes and makeup utilized by participants must align with the designated
themes of the competition.
6. Performances should refrain from containing vulgarity or bitter insinuation. Only
innocent satire or humour is permissible.

Poetry
1. Participation in this competition is restricted to a maximum of one member per
individual.
2. Each school is permitted to enter only one team.
3. All participants will be allocated a time frame of 2-3 minutes for their recitation.
4. Content delivered during the recitation must refrain from vulgarity or any form of
bitter insinuation. Only expressions of innocent satire or humour are deemed
appropriate.
5. The use of vulgar or unparliamentary language is strictly prohibited and will not
be tolerated as part of the entertainment provided.

Solo Singing
1. Each school is permitted to submit only one entry. Each team comprises a single
participant.
2. The duration of the performance should range between 3 to 4 minutes.
3. Participants are required to provide their own Karaoke tracks or accompanists.
4. Live accompaniment for the performance is permissible, though not obligatory.
5. Songs containing vulgar or offensive content are strictly prohibited and must be
avoided.

Solo Dance
1. Each team comprises a single participant.
2. Only one entry per school is permitted.
3. Participants are required to provide their own props and costumes.
4. The duration of the performance should fall within the range of 2 to 4 minutes.
5. Performances containing vulgar or inappropriate content will not be permitted.
6. Participants are obligated to supply their own accompanying tracks or music.

Group Dance
1. Each participating school is limited to submitting a single entry.
2. Every team must consist of no fewer than six and no more than eight members.
3. Performances may be based on songs of any language.
4. The duration of each performance should fall within the range of 5 to 7 minutes.
5. Participants are required to provide their own costumes and props.
6. Dances with explicit or indecent content will not be permitted.
7. Participants must supply their own music tracks for their performances.
8. Live singing is permissible, with a maximum of four accompanying musicians.

Photography

1. Contest entries are exclusively accepted through online submissions via email at
media@ctuniversity.in with the subject line "Photography contest submission". The
deadline for submission is March 21, 2024.
2. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
3. Submitted photos must adhere to the following specifications: they must be at
least 640 pixels on the shorter side and no more than 2000 pixels on the longer
side. Additionally, images should not exceed 2MB in size and must be in JPEG
format.
4. Each submitted image must be accompanied by a unique title and description.
5. All submitted photos must be original and free of any borders, logos, copyright
marks, identifying marks, or other visible references.
6. Any form of editing is strictly prohibited.

7. Photos depicting inappropriate or offensive content, such as provocative nudity,


violence, human rights or environmental violations, or any material contrary to the
legal, religious, cultural, and moral traditions and practices of India, are strictly
prohibited. Such submissions will be immediately disqualified, and participants
may face permanent exclusion from future contests at the discretion of Better
Photography.

Rangoli
1. Each team must consist of precisely two members.
2. Participants are required to bring their own materials for the competition, ensuring
that said materials are dry.
3. A total time limit of two hours is allotted for the completion of the rangoli.
4. The dimensions of the rangoli must measure precisely 2 feet by 2 feet.
5. The theme for the competition will be announced at the commencement of the
event.

Mehndi
1. Each team must consist of two members, comprising one participant and one
accompanist.
2. The utilization of tattoos, stencils, templates, readymade designs, or booklets is
strictly prohibited.
3. Participants are required to provide their own materials, such as mehndi, for the
competition.
4. The allocated time for the activity is one hour.
5. The theme for the competition will be revealed at the beginning of the event

Face Painting
1. Each school is limited to one entry, consisting of a team comprising two members:
one artist and one accompanist.
2. The allocated time for the competition is one hour.
3. Participants are required to provide their own materials. Themes will be disclosed
at the time of the event

Cartooning
1. Each school is permitted to submit only one entry.
2. The allotted time for the activity is one hour.
3. Participants are required to provide their own materials for the activity.
4. The theme for the activity will be announced at the commencement of the event.

Fashion Show
1. Each team is required to comprise a minimum of 8 members and a maximum of
12 members.
2. Participation from each school is mandatory, with one team representing each
School.
3. The maximum duration allotted for the performance, inclusive of setup time, is 10
minutes.
4. Participants are expected to refrain from the use of vulgarity or any form of bitter
insinuation during their performance.
5. The use of props is permitted and encouraged to enhance the presentation.
6. Themes for the performance are predefined and include:
a. Floral
b. Ethnic Wear
c. Animals and Birds
d. Nature

Poem Recitation
1. Each participant is allotted a maximum time limit of 3 minutes for the recitation.
2. All participants must adhere to the general rules outlined previously, including
maintaining decorum and avoiding any form of vulgarity or bitter insinuation.
3. Each school is required to have representation in the event, with one participant
from each School.
4. Props or visual aids are not permitted during the recitation.
5. The theme of the poem will be provided to participants 24 hours prior to the
event.
6. The recitation must be performed live without any pre-recorded or background
audio.
7. Participants are encouraged to demonstrate eloquence, clarity, and emotional
depth in their delivery.
8. Time penalties may be incurred for exceeding the allotted 3-minute time limit.

Debate
1. Each participating school must nominate one debate team consisting of two
members. No substitutions or changes to the team composition are allowed once
registered.
2. The debate topics will be provided 24 Hours prior to the event.
3. Each team will be allotted a total of 4 minutes to present their arguments. This
time will be divided equally between the two team members, with each speaker
given 2 minutes to speak.
4. The debate will be judged based on criteria such as clarity of arguments, logical
reasoning, evidence, and examples provided, rebuttal skills, and overall persuasive
ability.
5. Participants are expected to engage in the debate with respect and
professionalism. Personal attacks, disrespectful behaviour, or any form of
misconduct will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification.
6. Teams must strictly adhere to the allotted time limits for each segment of the
debate. Penalties may be imposed for exceeding the time limits.
7. The use of visual aids, props, or electronic devices during the speech is not
permitted. Participants are expected to rely solely on their verbal presentation
skills.

Elocution
1. Participant Eligibility: Participation is limited to one student from each participating
school. Each school must nominate their representative prior to the competition.
2. The topics for the elocution competition will be predetermined by the organizing
committee.
3. The topic for the competition will be communicated to their respective schools 24
hours before the event. This allows participants adequate time to prepare and craft
their speeches.
4. Each participant will be allotted a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 4
minutes to deliver their speech. A grace period of 30 seconds may be allowed,
after which penalties may apply.
5. Participants are required to prepare an original speech on the chosen topic.
Plagiarism or the use of pre-written speeches not authored by the participant will
result in disqualification.
6. Speeches must be delivered in English, Hindi or Punjabi showcasing clarity, fluency,
and effective communication skills. Use of appropriate vocabulary and grammar is
expected.
7. Speeches will be evaluated based on criteria such as content, delivery,
organization, relevance to the topic, clarity of expression, and overall impact.
8. Participants must adhere to the allocated time limit for their speech. A timekeeper
will signal when the allotted time is approaching completion.
9. Participants who exceed the maximum time limit or violate any of the competition
rules may be subject to disqualification at the discretion of the judges.
10. The use of visual aids, props, or electronic devices during the speech is not
permitted. Participants are expected to rely solely on their verbal presentation
skills.

Essay Writing
1. Each participating school may nominate one student to represent their institution
in the competition. The nominated student must be currently enrolled in an
academic program at the school.
2. The essay topic will be provided on the spot by the organizing committee at the
beginning of the competition. Participants must craft their essays based on the
given topic within the allotted time.
3. Participants will have a total of one hour to complete their essays from the moment
the topic is announced. Late submissions will not be accepted.
4. Essays must be a minimum of 250 words and a maximum of 300 words in length.
Entries falling outside this word limit will be subject to penalties or disqualification
at the discretion of the judges.
5. Participants are required to compose original essays on the given topic. Plagiarism
or any form of academic dishonesty will result in immediate disqualification.
6. Essays must be written in English, Hindi, or Punjabi adhering to grammatical and
syntactical conventions. Use of appropriate vocabulary and clarity of expression
are essential.
7. Essays will be evaluated based on various criteria including coherence of
argument, relevance to the topic, clarity of expression, creativity, and adherence
to the word limit

Quiz
1. Each participating school must nominate one quiz team consisting of a maximum
of two members. No substitutions or changes to the team composition are allowed
once registered.
2. The quiz topics will be general and social knowledge.
3. There will be a written preliminary round and the teams will be elected for the
finals.
4. Finals will be oral with audio-visual questions
5. The quiz will be judged based on criteria such as accuracy of answers, depth of
knowledge, quick thinking, teamwork, and overall performance.
6. Participants are expected to maintain sportsmanship and integrity throughout the
competition. Cheating, collusion, or any form of unfair practices will result in
immediate disqualification.
7. Teams must strictly adhere to the allotted time limits for each round of questions.
Penalties may be imposed for exceeding the time limits.
8. The use of any external resources, including books, notes, or electronic devices, is
strictly prohibited during the quiz. Participants must rely solely on their own
knowledge and reasoning skills.
9. Any disputes or challenges regarding the questions or answers must be raised
with the quiz moderator immediately after the completion of the round. The
decision of the quiz moderator will be final and binding.
10. The quiz moderator reserves the right to enforce additional rules or
regulations as deemed necessary to ensure the fair and orderly conduct of the
competition.
