26TH ANNUAL MEET 2023-24

TEZPUR UNIVERSITY

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Registration of the participant should be completed prior to the event. Registration
forms will be available on the University webpage; hard copies will be available in the
hostels.Registration forms should be submitted to the office of the DSW.
2. Participants should be bonafide students of the University (not from the Centre for
Open and Distance Learning) and should not be under any disciplinary probation.
3. No hired accompanist is permitted for group events.
4. Vulgarity and obscenity in any form is highly discouraged.
5. The decision of the judges will be final.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR DANCE EVENTS

1. INNOVATIVE DRESS MAKING (CREATIVE DRESS MAKING) (16-02-2024, Friday, 06:30


PM)

The participants need to adhere to the timings and themes provided by the organizer.
Decency in attire and behavior should be maintained.
Each group needs to contain minimum of 4/3 participants i.e., 2 model,1 designer, and 1
makeup artist (optional), wherein the designer/ model would be required to explain their
outfit on stage).
The maximum number of groups representing the clubbed hostels is limited to three
groups.
The participants will be judged based on utility and uniqueness of the attire and stage
representation.
Roughly 70% of the materials that will be used for the outfit should be recycled or reused
products.
In any case the use of unfair means will not be tolerated, and the participants will be
disqualified.
Registration should be done by 3:00 PM on 16-02-2024.
The decision of the judges will be final.

2. TRADITIONAL DRESS (16-02-2024, Friday, 07:30 PM)

There can be a maximum of 2 Participants from each hostel.


Decency in attire and behavior should be maintained.
Creativity is encouraged but not modernization in traditional dresses.
Participants must not disrespect any culture.
Registration should be done by 3:00 PM on 16-02-2024.
The decision of the judges will be final.

3. CLASSICAL DANCE(SOLO) (17-02-2024, Saturday, 09:30 AM)

The dance item should be purely classical.


Classical dance can be from any of the approved schools of dance, such as Kathak,
Kathakali, Bharat Natyam, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Sattriya etc.
Participants should wear proper costumes and make-up.
Duration of the item should be 5-7 minutes.
Participants should perform on original track.
Judgement will be based on the criteria like Tal, Technique, Rhythm,Abhinaya or
Expression, Costume, Footwork, overall presentation etc.
Registration should be done by 10:00 PM on 16-02-2024.
The decision of the judges will be final.
4. FOLK DANCE(SOLO) (17-02-2024, Saturday, 11:00 AM)

This is a solo event.


Participants can use track sound or live accompanist. Accompanists should be from inside the
university.
No modernization in costume or music is allowed.
Maximum time 6 minutes for participants.
The dance can be either primitive or folk dance (Indian Style) but not a classical one.
Three copies of a brief note giving the theme and the text of the song if any is to be submitted along
with the entry form at the time of registration.
Participants are responsible for removal of their sets / properties etc. immediately after the
completion of their performance.
Judgement will be based on Rhythm, Formation, Expression, Costumes, Make-up, Overall effect.
Registration should be done by 10:00 PM on 16-02-2024.
The decision of the Judges will be final.

5. CREATIVE DANCE(SOLO) (17-02-2024, Saturday, 02:30 PM)

The dance should be creative and not Classical or Folk. It should tell a story of a selected theme or
era.
Three copies of a brief note giving the theme should be submitted along with the entry form at
the time of registration.
The dance should incorporate novelty movements.
The song on which the dance will be performed can be of any language.
Participants should wear proper dress and make-up.
Duration of the performance should not exceed 5 minutes.
Participants can perform on track.
The performance will be judged based on creativity, rhythm, gestures, expression, and
overall presentation.
Technical skills will be credited towards degree of difficulty.
Props are highly recommended. Prop setting should not take longer than 2 minutes.
Extra time taken to set up props shall be deducted from the overall performance time.
Props can be wearable, handheld, or standing but not damaging the stage.
Failing to clear the props from the stage will result in disqualification.
Registration should be done by 10:00 PM on 16-02-2024.
The decision of the judges will be final.

6. WESTERN DANCE(SOLO) (17-02-2024, Saturday, 04:30 PM)

The dance form should be purely western.


Duration of the performance should not exceed 5 minutes.
Participants can perform on track.
Participants should wear proper costumes and make-up.
The performance will be judged based on rhythm, gestures, footwork,expression, overall
presentation.
Dance forms should be Hip Hop, Contemporary, Break Dance, Tap Dance,Ballet, Jazz.
Registration should be done by 10:00 PM on 16-02-2024.
The decision of the judges will be final.
7. GROUP DANCE (17-02-2024, Saturday, 06:00 PM onwards)

This is an individual hostel event.


Lottery for deciding the sequence of performances will be conducted at 06:00PM on the day of
the event.
The song on which the dance will be performed can be of any language.
Duration of the performance should not exceed 8 minutes.
Participants should wear proper dress and make-up. No obscenity will be
entertained.
Each team should comprise of a minimum of 5 and maximum 8 members.
There can be one group from one hostel.
The groups should be comprised of only girls or only boys.
Judgement will be based on choreography, rhythms, taal, formation, synchronization,
creativity, costume, overall presentation, performance of the students etc. Extra points if
they convey a message/theme.
Three copies of a brief note giving the theme should be submitted along with the entry form at
the time of registration.
Participants are responsible for removal of their sets / properties etc. immediately after the
completion of their performance. Failing to clear the stage before leaving will result in
disqualification.
Vulgarity and obscenity in any form is highly discouraged.
Registration should be done by 10:00 PM on 16-02-2024.
The decision of the judges will be final.

8. INTER HOSTEL BIHU COMPETITION. (23-02-2024, Friday, 06:00 PM onwards)

This is an inter Hostel Event.


Lottery for deciding the sequence of performances will be conducted at 05:00PM on the day of the
event.
The team should be comprised of both boys and girls.
The performance should be Bihu Husori.
Each team will get a maximum of 20 minutes and minimum 15 minutes for their
performance.
Each team should be comprised of 15 - 22 members.
The participating team will be responsible for removal of their sets/properties etc.
immediately after the competition of their performance.They will get a maximum of 3
minutes for this purpose.
Time for sets/Instruments setting is maximum 5 minutes.
All the members of the team should wear proper dress and make-up.
A minimum of 5 types of folk instruments should be played by all the teams
during the competition.
Failing to clear the props and instruments from the stage will result in disqualification.
Judgement will be based on choreography, rhythms, taal, synchronization, costume and
overall presentation and performance of the students.
The decision of the judges will be final.
