WINTER FEST, KODAIKANAL 21st AND 22nd February, 2013 The Winter Fest is being conducted by American University of India Kodai International Business School, Kodaikanal on Thursday and Friday 21st and 22nd February, 2013. EVENT GUIDELINES Please read carefully the following rules & guidelines of the contest. Registration: The deadline for registration is 15th February, 2013. The The maximum number of students per team is 15. More than one (1) team can represent each college. Registration fee is Rs.375/- per student which includes accommodation for one night (23rd February, 2011) & local transportation from the place of accommodation to the venue and back (within Kodaikanal only). The following are the guideline for the Winter Fest events: Paper Presentation: 1. Maximum 10 paper presentations from each college 2. Each Paper presentation will be presented by a team of 2 students. A list of topics are suggested below. Students can choose from the list or can choose their own topic as feasible. 3. Participants are requested to send their soft copy of the full paper along with abstract through talent@auiedu.com or info@auiedu.com on or before 18th Feb, 2013. 4. The abstract should have full name of the authors with institution address, email Id and contact number

5. The abstract should not exceed one page with font size 12, font style Times New Roman single line spacing. 6. Shortlisted teams will be intimated through mail by 20th February, 2013. 7. The selected participants are requested to bring 2 hard copies & 1 soft copy of the full paper. 8. Presentation should only be in PPT Format. 9. Each team will be given Eight Minutes out of which 5 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for interaction. 10.Both the participants must make the presentation 11. Participants are requested to strictly adhere to given timings. A Participation Certificate will be provided for all participants of the Paper presentation. Here are some Topics suggested for paper presentation. Students can choose any one topic. Alternatively, Students are welcome to choose any related topics as per their area of interest. Corporate social responsibility 10.Software advances in Wireless Communication Best Leader: 1. Upto 6 Participants per team are permitted for the event 2. The participant of the event are requested to send his/her curriculum vitae to the email talent@auiedu.com or info@auiedu.com 3. The 1st round of selection will be through Group discussions. The topic will given 5 minutes before the event. This will be followed with questions related to problem solving / stress situations. 4. Corporate dress code should be maintained. Ad- Zap:

Four participants per team, There will be a preliminary round Topics & details for Ad's Zap will be given before the event begins. 7 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for questions will be allotted for the final round of product launch.

Music: Light vocal Solo (Indian) Only one entry per team is allowed. Duration of performance. (4-6 mins). Time for stage/instruments settings is maximum 5 mins. Maximum number of accompanists is 2. Duration of the song shall be between 4-6 mins. Only non-film songs/geet ghazal/bhajan/shabad and bhangans can be presented. Judgment will be based on the qualities like taal selection of raga, composition and general impression. Western vocal solo Only one entry per team is allowed. Time for stage/instruments settings is maximum 5 mins. Maximum number of accompanists is 2. Duration of the song shall be between 4-6 mins. Language of song shall only be English. Judgment will be based on the qualities like composition, rhythm, co-ordination and general impression. GROUP SONG WESTERN/ LIGHT Only one entry per team is allowed. Maximum 6 singers in a group and number of accompanists playing instruments shall be 3. The group song should be taken from English language. Maximum time allowed for the group song is 10 minutes and minimum time is 8 mins, which does not include setting time. The setting time for a group shall not exceed 5 mins. Judging of the items will be on the basis of quality of singing only and not on make up, costumes and actions of the team. DANCE: Classical Dance (Indian Solo) Each team can send only one entry. The classical dance can be from any of the approved schools of dance, such as

kathak, kathakali, bharat natyam, manipuri, kuchipudi, mohinittam, odyissi etc. Participants will be allowed up to 12 to 15 minutes including time of preparation. Maximum 3 accompanists are permissible. Judgment will be based on the qualities like taal, technique, rhythm, abhinaya or expression, costumes, foot work and general impression etc. 3 copies of a brief note on the description of dance, story involved in it, if any, and of the accompanying song, with its meaning in Hindi or English must be submitted at the time of registration. Classical Dance (Indian group) Each team can send only one entry. The classical dance can be from any of the approved schools of dance, such as kathak, kathakali, bharat natyam, manipuri, kuchipudi, mohinittam, odyissi etc. Maximum 6 singers in a group are permissable Participants will be allowed up to 12 to 15 minutes including time of preparation. The western dance can be of any form. A Maximum of 10 dancers in a group are permissible. Participants will be allowed up to 12 to 15 minutes including time of preparation. Maximum 3 accompanists are permissible. Judgment will be based on the qualities like technique, rhythm, expression, costumes, foot work and general impression etc. Other Guidelines

1. The college Name, Address & Telephone no. must compulsorily be provided. Similarly the Name, address & phone of the Head of the Institution and the Team Leader's should also be provided in the Registration Form. 2. Upto two (2) teams from each college are permitted to participate, and in such cases that particular college must fill in separate registration forms for each team. One team cannot enter in more than one event of the same kind. 3. Name, age and the telephone numbers of the participants should be clearly mentioned on an extra sheet and therewith attached to the Registration form. 4. Food is not included in the Registration Fee. Food (Breakfast / lunch / Dinner) will be available inside the college canteen at a subsidized cost of Rs 45/- only per meal. Food will be provided to those who request for it in advance. Please do mention the number of meals required in the box given under food option on the registration form. If meal is not required, then will arrange by self should be ticked on the registration form. If the Food Option column on the registration form is left blank, it will be considered as no food required. 1. The Registration fee must be compulsorily paid along with the registration form. (only DD in the name of ACER Foundation, payable at Kodaikanal will be accepted). A time limit of ten (10) minutes will apply per performance per team. 3. For the Dance event, participants must bring their own CD's. A time limit of ten (10) minutes will apply per performance per team. 4. Topics & details for Ad's Zap will be given before the event begins. 5. Each college will be responsible for all their own possessions. Any Damage caused to any property / belongings of the Organizer will be considered an offence and will result in a fine, disciplinary action and disqualification of the team. 6. Registration fee will not be refunded. Contest Guidelines 1. The maximum # of entries in an event mentioned on the registration form must be strictly followed.

2. Colleges are allowed to participate in multiple events. However each team must participate in at least three (3) or more events in order to be eligible for the Grand Prizes / Rolling Trophies. The Column which shows number of Teams is only for the colleges with more than ONE team. Others can please ignore this column. 1. All participants should be dressed in decent and appropriate attire. 2. Participants shall be courteous and friendly to other competitors, judges, organizers and guests. 3. The Participants are requested to carry their ID Cards. 4. The participants are requested to confirm their participation on (or) before 14th Feb, 2013 through email/ post. 5. No T-Shirts, Jeans and see through dress will be permitted. 6. Events guidelines for all the events are to be strictly followed 7. Decision of judges will be final.

Tug of War (Team event) Guidelines The number of participants is 7 for the Tug of War event. Separate event for Boys and girls will be conducted. The results will be based on best of 3 (knock out basis) The opponents will be decided by lot system There will be a time limit set The judges decision will be final. Arm Wrestling (Individual event Right handed only) Guidelines Separate event for Boys and girls will be conducted. The result will be based on 1 try only (knock out basis) The opponents will be decided by lot system There will be a time limit set The judges decision will be final.
