SPARK DRY PORT

8. Operating Wrenches: Steel, tee-handle with one pointed end, stem of length to operate
deepest buried valve, and socket matching valve operating nut.

B. Butterfly Valves

1. Type: To BS EN 593, double flange with resilient seating, for horizontal use.
2. Material of component parts shall be from basic materials listed in BS EN 593 Table 3.
3. The valve body ends shall be double flanged and the flange dimensions shall comply with
the relevant requirements of BS EN 1092. The body shall be manufactured from close
grained cast iron lined with rubber unless otherwise specified. The body parts shall be
circular and the diameter not less than that of the nominal pipe bore. The valve body shall
be provided with suitable lifting lugs.
4. The valve shall be closed by clockwise movement of an actuator or hand wheel. Direction
arrows clearly indicating 'open' and 'closed' positions shall be provided on the actuator or
cast on the hand wheel.
5. Minimum Working Pressure: 16 bars
6. Factory Protection: Casting surfaces are to be given an initial coat of protective paint
immediately after shot blasting and a second coat on assembly. Protective coating is to be
hot applied coal tar or bitumen to BS 4164, or BS 3416 respectively. Thickness of coat
shall be 250 microns.

C. CHECK VALVES

1. Check Valves: BS EN 12334, swing-check type with 16 bars working-pressure rating and
resilient seat. Include interior and exterior protection to be 250 microns fusion bonded
epoxy coating" and ends to match piping.

D. SERVICE SADDLES

1. Service-Saddle Assemblies: Comply with AWWA C800. Include saddle and valve
compatible with tapping machine.
a. Service Saddle: Ductile iron or Copper alloy with seal and AWWA C800, threaded
outlet for corporation valve.
b. Corporation Valve: Bronze body and ground-key plug, with AWWA C800,
threaded inlet and outlet matching service piping material.
c. Outlet configuration copper fitting connected to HDPE submain which is connected
downstream to a manifold with 2-4 outlets and with ends matching service piping
materials.

E. RELIEF VALVES

1. Air-Release Valves: AWWA C512, hydro mechanical device to automatically release

accumulated air. Include 16 bars working-pressure design. Flanged to BS EN 1092.

2. Air/Vacuum Valves: AWWA C512, direct-acting, float-operated, hydro mechanical

device with large orifice to automatically release accumulated air or to admit air during
filling of piping. Include 16 bars working-pressure design. Flanged to BS EN 1092.
