Nowaday, the question of the role, benefits, and harms of peer groups has always been an important
issue facing our society. Peer group is a group of people of the same age, status and status. interests.
Peer groups have a great influence on a person's thoughts, opinions and behavior, especially young
people, and Peer groups are generally recognized as existing in adolescence. The things that young
people learn as well as the pressure to be in the peer group have been mentioned in many articles
including:.Peer Group ( Pulished in Williams, J. (2012). Academic Encounters – Life in Society –
Reading, Writing, 2nd edition – Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, pp. 35-36).This essay is
a response to article.

This article is about adolescent peer groups are particularly important for adolescents' development.
They teach social skills, friendship among equals, and independence from adult authorities. Peer
groups sometimes encourage members to ignore home and school rules and even break the law.
There may be differences across cultures in how adolescents behave .In the next part of article,
author describes about negative peer pressure. Peer group members often look to each other for
approval instead of relying on their own personal beliefs. Young people can learn valuable lessons
from peers, but sometimes the pressure from peers can also have a negative effect.

The author demonstrates the importance of peer groups in assisting teenagers in separating
themselves from adult control. The article also shows that adolescent peer groups frequently have
similar beliefs, speak in similar tones, dress in similar fashions, listen to similar music, and have
similar tastes in celebrities. When I was reading this part, I nodde in agreement with the author
since it is quite similar to myself when i was young. I act like the individuals in my adolescent peer
group on occasion, not because I want to, but because I am afraid of being different. The next part
I want to mention is that When I need financial or professional advice, I generally turn to my
parents, but when it comes to love and which groups I should join, I frequently consult my friends
as the author said in the article. Aside from the advantages, the author also discusses peer group
pressures. Because everyone seems to have gone through a similar time, it gives the reader a very
familiar sense. To come up with an article with such strong points, the author must have done a lot
of study.

I used to believe that I was the only one who was subjected to peer pressure, but after reading the
essay, I realized that peer pressure affects virtually everyone. Adolescent peer groups, in particular,
have a significant impact on how people think and conduct as adults. If we are in a group of good
people, we will develop positively; on the other hand, if we are in a group of terrible people, we
will develop negatively.

To sum up, The article emonstrates peers are a pervasive aspect of our social life. They entail a
broad range of people who surround us in our everyday lives from early childhood until old age.
Peer groups have, beyond doubt, an influence on young people. Peer groups can have a positive
influence and help young people. However, it can be prejudicial, poisonous or even pernicious.
