After reading Gender and academic achievement, I gained knowledge about gender and the
influence and change in academic achievement now and in the future. The article summarizes the
content when it comes to the process and change of gender on academic achievement, Plus it is
an improved way to balance it across countries. The article has influenced my thinking a lot.

The article talks about the first process when girls and boys have specific subjects and girls are
not given as much attention as boys and their performance is worse. Followed by a change when
girls have excelled and gradually balanced with boys. And now is the focus of attention for boys
as they gradually have more threats to their academic performance to improve and prevent it with
male students.
Through the article, I find it more interesting and focused on the issue of children's gender later
on after reading the article before it was still more important for me to have a son, but now I like
having a daughter more because girls are easier to obey and their achievements now are not
inferior to boys. Also in the article that said that schools today emphasize skills, such as reading
and writing, and behaviors that are more favorable to girls than boys, I disagree with this view.
Because wherever education is equal for boys and girls, there are many natural subjects that
parallel reading and writing. Add to that the fact that countries are looking for ways to balance
the achievement of boys when there are so many problems that make boys do poorly in school.
So I have two questions :  How to limit crime in boys ? and How to improve male students’
academic achievement?
It's the same for me, when I'm a boy and my best friend is a girl, her academic achievement has
never been worse than mine. Moreover, she's better at studying than me in both natural and
literacy. I don't know what she thinks but I agree that my opinion and the article are the same as I
think I am less educated but will get a job easier than my friend. In Vietnam now, as far as I
know, and find out, it is very difficult to educate boys when it is true that male students think that
doing well in school is not "cool" and the situation of absenteeism and crime in boys is very
popular. I have also been involved in school dropouts and illegal use of alcohol but fortunately
had advice from friends and from the school, homeroom teacher, I went back to studying and
improving my achievements.

In conclusion, I now prefer to have a daughter, I disagree with the imbalance in the subject for

gender and there are questions after reading the article. Finally, after reading the article I found
myself in it although there are some views I disagree with the article and I highly recommend it
to everyone especially families with young children to read this article to be able to properly raise
children whether it's a boy or a girl.
