An Overview of Amazon Company

The company that has been considered in this study is Amazon. The company has used

cloud computing technology to become one of the largest companies in the United States. The

company engages in free shipping of items that customers buy online from various continents of the

world. This has made global and online business very easy and accessible. Cloud computing

technology has made Amazon company experience a complete paradigm shift in the business world

and a complete turnaround of business transactions around the globe (Alshmrani, 2021). By use of

cloud computing technology, Amazon has gained a competitive advantage over other companies

that are yet to embrace the technology in their operations. This has made Amazon make big profits

as compared to other companies.

The major operations of Amazon are in the selling of books, music, movies, housewares,

electronics, and toys. The company does its business either directly or through middlemen between

other retailers and millions of customers globally. Amazon started as a very small bookstore seller.

During its initial days, it used to compete with other local booksellers. During these days, Amazon

did house-to-house delivery of goods and services to customers who visited the stores and made

orders. Currently, the company has grown to offer services of convenience including free shipping

of super savers (Aćimović et al., 2020).

The challenges Amazon faced and how Cloud Computing technology was used to overcome

their challenges.

During its early days, Amazon faced several challenges in the distribution of its goods and

services to potential customers. One of the challenges is linking up with customers in the global

market during those days; the online platform was so limited and was being accessed by few online

users (Aćimović et al., 2020). It was not easy for the company to get in touch with online users.

This made it difficult to connect to the customer. The second one was the low number of sales. This

was as a result of a small number of people who were in a position to trace the physical location of

the company and buy the items that they wanted. The third and the most serious one is the method

through which product promotion was being done. During the early days, product promotion was

done by carrying the actual products to the market and promoting them. It was so challenging for

the company to promote its products (Gao, 2021). The coverage area was also so limited due to the

lack of digital space. This limited the number of products that were sold. This led to low profits that

were not able to sustain Amazon Company.

The challenges that Amazon faced led to the adoption of cloud computing technology that

made it possible for the company to use computer system resources for data resources and resources

for data storage and its power in computing. By use of cloud computing technology, Amazon has

been able to convert most of its content to digital data. Digital content is now available worldwide

to potential users (Gao, 2021). The digital content is stored in the cloud and accessed globally. The

other challenge Amazon faced is related to storage of data and stock tracking. This was a challenge

because every process was done manually. This made it so tiresome and cumbersome. All this and

others prompted Amazon to think of an alternative method of doing business, hence the

introduction of cloud computing technology.

Amazon Cloud Computing implementation and its benefits. What was the result of

implementing Cloud Computing? Did they meet their objectives for falling short?

A study by Wubu, (2020) suggests that by use of cloud computing technology, the operation

at Amazon Company has been digitalized. This is because much of the content of the movies and

books have been digitalized and stored in the cloud. This makes it available anywhere and anytime

a potential user gets interested in it. Amazon has made use of digital platforms to revolutionize the

global business market. This has been made possible by creating digital platforms that allow the

company to interact with potential users worldwide. Through these platforms, transactions have

been done online. It has been possible for Amazon to develop electronic promotional materials and

content that it uses to promote and advertise its products and services. The digital promotional

materials have been uploaded to the websites of the company. The company has also embarked on

offering free shipping of goods that customers buy.

Through this technology, Amazon has majored in profits. This is because it has been able

for the company to increase the sale volumes of goods and services. The technology has made it

possible for Amazon to grow its market. This has grown the market from a local one to a global one

Wubu, (2020). The technology enables Amazon to track all the transactions that it makes every

single day. Al organizational data is safely kept using cloud technology. The system can store large

volumes of data unlike the traditional methods of storing data. By use of cloud computing

technology, Amazon has been able to achieve its objectives because it has been able to digitalize

most of its products and services, and it has increased the sales of goods and services using online

platforms. This has enabled Amazon to maximize its profits.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the use of technology has emerged to become a game-changer in the global

market. Cloud technology has accelerated the growth and expansion of the global market.

Companies that have embraced the technology can make profits and enjoy a competitive advantage

over others. The study recommends that a uniform mode of currency be adopted in making

payments. This will ensure that inflations do not affect the value of currencies of different states.

This will ensure more profits for organizations. The overall effect of the use of cloud computing

and technology in an organization is competitive advantage.
