Completion Report of September

Forestry Practicum

Day 1, September 3, 2021:

In this first day of our practicum activity, 8:00 am, as a

group we meet each other at the CF nursery with our adviser

Sir John Tacloy, he said that we can pick at least 5 or 6 deguai

seedlings and tools, we have a tools like 3digging bar and 2

shovel and own bolo’s. we prepare our tools as while waiting

for our service. When the service come, we are now ready for

the ride going to Bektey, Wangal La Trinidad. As we reach our

destination we go down to the mountain until we reach the

planting

site, when

we already

there first thing we do is to clean the strip

were we can be able to walk and then the

planting strip were the seedling is

supposed to be planted. In this day we

spent at least 5 hours in working and then

we go back to the CF nursery.


Day 2, September 17,2021:

In this second day of our practicum, we continue the

activity were we meet again at the CF nursery, while we wait

for our service we prepare again at least 16pcs of deguai

seedlings each. The service came and now we are ready again

for the trip going to bektey in Wangal La Trinidad, when we

reach the planting site this is the time that we started the

planting activity each person should be plant at least 20 pcs of

seedlings. we planted at least 20 pcs of seedlings doing the

proper way of planting that has 1.5 to 2 meters apart of each seedlings, we plant all the

seedling until we spent 5 hours of working but some of the strip have an incomplete so we

need more 20 pcs of deguai seedlings to be complete our task.

Day 3, September 20, 2021:

This day is the continuation of day 2 were we

need to get more 20 pcs of deguai seedlings. 8:00 in

the morning we meet at the CF nursery to get and

prepare the 20 deguai seedling while waiting for our

service. When we reach the planting site we continue

to plant the 20 deguai to complete our task. We spent

1 hour in planting, after we plant we do a ring

weeding to the other planting site were some of the


deguai seedlings were planted. We clean the planting strip and also the place were the deguai

planted. In doing this activity we spent 3 hours. So in this day we spent 4hours of working.

Day 4 & 5, September 24 & 27, 2021:

In this day is the continuation of our practicum activity. 8:00 am with my group and our

adiviser we meet at the CF nursery to do some of the nursery operation. First thing we do is

the seedlings shelter or we call it shading, we have a tools in doing this activity, we have bolo,

hammer, nails, pliers, wood saw and tire wire. Before we do this shelter, we cut first a bamboo

and alnus wood and then we apply nailings and hammering and some of the edge of the woos

is we need to use tie wire because we have not enough nails to use after we build the skeleton

we put now the cover or the ceiling so that it can cover the seedlings. After we do this activity,

we collect a stones for the preparation of our next

activity which is riprapping and improvement of the CF

tea garden. We have a tools which are 2 wheelborrow.

First thing we go is in the CF were the new building is

on going to be build, we get the unused rocks and put

it in the site were we can do riprapping, when there

are no more stones that we find, we go to the BSU

parking lot we collect there until we spent of at least 4

hours of working. It is the same in the next day were we continue to get stone of at least e

loads of wheel borrow until we collect 200 pcs of stones, after we collected stone we do

houling of soil (top soil) were we can use for the potting, we collect the soil in the CF

construction site, we collect at least 4 loads of wheel borrow in this day we spent 4 hours of

working.
Day 6, September 28, 2021:

This is the day that we started to do the improvement

of the CF tea garden, we first do the riprapping were we dig

the soil of at least 1ft deep, 2ft wide and 2 meters long. After

we dig we get the biggest stone and put it below as the

foundation of the riprap (cabite) and the we put a soil on it.


We do this in 2 days until it reaches the height of al least 4ft and then we get a soil for the

backfill so that the riprap have a support an not be easily destroy. In this activity we spent 7

hours of working in 2 days

Day 8, September 29, 2021:

This is the day that we prepare the planting site/

planting area for BSU 105th foundation day tree planting.

We clean the plant strip

companions our CF Dean

Sir Conrad and Sir John

Tacloy, they are the one who support us on what should we

do and what should be clean. It is a good day because the

lunch and snack is free. We do cleaning in the morning 10am

until 3pm. In this activity we spent 5-6 hours of working.

Day 9, September 30, 2021

This is the day when the BSU 105 th

foundation day tree planting began, they


planted a hundred and five seedlings which are guava (Psidium guajava) and alnus (Alnus

japonica). First thing that we do is we carry the hundred and five seedlings going to the

plantation site at the CF near the plantation of deguai. On planting event wehave our

companions Sir Gerry Alfonso and Sir John Tacloy and other BSU employees. In planting this

hundreds of seedling we spent about 2-3 hour of working. After we do tree planting in the

afternoon we continue our work riprapping so that it would be done. We collect more soil for

the back fill of the work until we spent 4 hours of working.
