Corner node fabrication
Central node junction is required to develop the full tensile strength of the node plates in either direction.
An automated and repeatable manufacturing process (casting or fabrication) shall be adopted to ensure consistent
tolerances and specified performance.
The manufacturing process for node shall ensure specified tolerances on erected geometry are met without requiring
shims, packs or excessive distortion of panel frames.
Design assumes complete joint penetration (CJP) welding of four plates simultaneously using the narrow gap improved
electroslag welding process (NGI-ESW).
Welding procedures shall be verified by hardness tests on run-on/run-off strips and by visual, MPI and ultrasonic
testing in accordance with the specification.
All bolt holes to be set out on vertical plane on centre line of joint
In order to allow the correct executions of the electroslag welding process the bottom edge of the different fin plates
must have to be revised as shown in the present drawings
All panel connections are slip critical (SC) and shall use M30 ASTM F3125M grade A490 preloaded bolt assemblies.
Short-slots as per standard AISC 360 (33x40) Minimum fastener tension 408 kN in accordance with AISC 360-05
