CHECKLIST FOR LOWER FRONT AND REAR LOWER SPHERE

(EF-04A & EF-04B)

1. The Lower Sphere function is to store the outlet water from economizer and

distribute the water to furnace bottom header by supplier pipes.

2. APIL Scope is to prepare the detail drawings.

3. Collect the following inputs from API, before start the drawings

ASME calculation sheet.

PPA - Section Side Elevation (Lower Furnace) drawing

PPA – Plan View “S-S” (Lower Furnace) drawing

PPA – Lower Furnace Side, Front and Rear supply tubes drawings

3D Model drawings

P & I drawings.

Circulation analysis letter.

Strainer Details

Lifting lugs location and size details.

Manhole details.

Material Specification

4. Verify the following listed item with received inputs from API.

a) For Sphere size (ID and Thk) ref. ASME calculation sheet.

b) For Inlet nozzles location, orientation size (OD Thk. and length) and edge

preparation details ref. ASME calculation sheet and 3D model drawings.

c) For Supply Tubes (Outlet Nozzle) location, orientation size (OD Thk. and length)

and edge preparation details ref. ASME calculation sheet, Lower Furnace Side,

Front and Rear supply tubes and 3D model drawings.

d) For Drain Nozzle location, orientation, size (OD, Thk. and length) and edge

preparation details ref. ASME calculation sheet., if size is not available then use

the 2” Socket weld end connection for drain nozzle as per API Standard.

e) provide the Taping 1” Socket weld end connection, for location ref. attached

sketch no.

f) Strainer & Support Reducer ref. attached sketch no.

g) Lifting lug location ref. attached Sketch no.

h) Manhole hinge plate Thk. and manhole groove details ref. ASME calculation

sheet.

j). For nozzle edge preparation and tolerance ref. ASME calculation sheet.

i) Pressure, Temperature and Material specification ref. ASME calculation sheet.

5. Two spheres located above the lower furnace ring header, one is front side and

other one is rear side. The lower spheres supported by the supply tubes.

6. Manhole drawings are common for the Lower front & rear spheres and boiler re-

circulation mixing sphere.

7. 15 degree below respective to the horizontal centerline for lower front and rear

sphere. Different orientation for the manhole hinge assembly for both sphere, ref.

attached sketch no.

8. Nozzle and Lifting lugs are not allowed on sphere circumference weld

9. Check the sphere and nozzle thk. are MWT (Min.wall Thk.) or AWT (Avg. wall

Thk.)

10. For orifice adapter ref.std.drg.no.C-990-952

11. For orifice plate ref. std. drg. no. C-990-953

12. No clear idea about the selection of the orifice adapter and orifice plate, follow as

per the reference drgs.

13. Provide necessary detail, views, section views and welding details as per the

reference drgs. listed on point no.34

STRAINER ASSEMBLY (Ref. SKETCH Nos. 1 & 2)

14. Strainer height is based on total no. off perforated holes.

15. Strainer made of two segment and connected by coupling.

16. Strainer has supported by reducer and reducer welded inside of sphere in line of

inlet nozzle centerline.

17. Strainer height has restricted up to the first row of the supply tubes.

18. Strainer having Dia. 0.375 perforated holes, the total area of perforated holes

must be 1.5 times of intlet nozzle area.

19. If perforated holes are not able to accommodate in the strainer and should provide

the perforated holes on the reducer as per attached sketch no.

20. Perforated hole circumference pitch should be 0.50” on strainer

21. Perforated hole longitudinal pitch should be 0.4375” on strainer

22. Ensure the arrangement of perforated holes on the two segment strainer and

strainer bottom plate as per the reference drawings.

23. Horizontal and diagonal pitch of perforated holes are 0.50” on strainer bottom

plate and maintain the 0.25” gap (margin) as per the reference drawings.

24. From the coupling end 0.75” gap for the first row of the perforated holes on the

both strainers.

25. Ref. the attached sketch no. for dimensions and how to prepare the Strainer,

strainer bottom plate and reducer dimensions

26. All plate thk. should be 0.25”
