De-Rating Factors

1. Ambient Temp. de-rating factors:

 The current-carrying capacities of cables in the air are based on an average air temperature equal to 30 °C as per IEC 60364-5-52 Table B.52.5 For other
temperatures,
 the correction factor is given in IEC 60364-5-52, Table B.52.14 for PVC, EPR and XLPE insulation material shall apply.

Location Cable Application Temp. (c) Ft

Shaded (for exposed cables, cables in conduit, cables in
covered trays in the sun, and cables in cable trays in the 50 0.82
shade)
Indoor air-conditioned 40 0.91

Buried in ground Soil Temperature 40 0.85

2. Soil Thermal Resistivity de-rating factor:

Soil type THR (C.cm/watt) THR (K.m/watt) Fth

Land 120 1.2 1.28
Concrete (for duct banks) 85 0.85 1.18

3. Buried Depth dr-rating factor:

 Fd is applied only for Buried cables. The De-rating Factor is selected as per IEC 60502-2 Table B.12.
 According to DPS-02 table-05: buried depth for L.V cable should be 1m.

Cable C.S.A (mm2) Fd

Up to 185 mm2 0.98
Above 185 mm2 0.97

4. Grouping De-Rating Factor

 Fg is applied as IEC 60364-5-52
