What did you learn about your subject? Your skill set? Yourself?

What I have learned from it was that it takes a lot of practice, time, and effort in order to get
myself to where I want to be. Even though I have studied and experienced coding already with
Computer Programming 11, my knowledge was way below my expectations and there is so
many things that I must get through just to get it started. Although, when I was going through
multiple problems, I have also realized that I am a fast learner, and I don’t like to give up.
How is your project relevant to you?
Capstone project was highly relevant to me. This project was all about my future and my dream
job, a developer. I always wanted to be a developer, and this was a wonderful opportunity to me
to get to know about my dream job and gain connections with it. Also, this project is an ongoing
project for me instead of getting it over with assignment. When I present or tell someone what I
have done so far in order to reach my goal, this project will be the first thing to come up and it is
very helpful for me to practice my developing skills.
How did you demonstrate the six core competencies throughout this project?
One of the things that I had to improve on with my personal awareness and responsibility was to
understand that learning takes patience and time. This project was also a great opportunity to
realize this once again. When I started it, I felt like I am going to have enough time, but when I
started it, I realized I was too confident. So, I used as much time I have practicing and studying
in order to be successful in this project. Also, during this project, I once again got to realize that
nothing can be perfect. When I thought that there is going to no error, and it is perfect, next day I
find whole page of errors that I did not saw yesterday. This got me to think that when I think it is
perfect, I go through it more than 3 times again in order to make it perfect.
What Impact if any did your Capstone Project have on you?
This is my first time working on a project that was related to my future. When I first thought of
working on something that I had never experienced, I was afraid and when I started the project, I
had low self-esteem. This led to having multiple errors, problems, and inefficient times.
Although, I saw a YouTube video about how beginner developers react when they first start their
projects and realized that it is normal for me to be confused and afraid of it. This got me to think
that I should feel confident and proud of myself even starting with this project. Also, it got me to
think that not only with this project, I should also be proud of myself doing anything good in my
life even though the results are not what I have expected it to be.
Think about the whole process and your finished product, what are you most proud of?
I am proud of my time management during the project the most. When I have planned to work
on this project every day, I really meant it, but even though I was interested in it, I saw myself
not using time effectively and efficiently. Then, I thought about solution and tried working on
the project whenever I thought that I had to. Although this could lead to just leaving capstone
behind, so I tried working at least 2 days per week. This worked out so well for me. Working
everyday was too exhausting for me, because there were a lot of other works I had to do also like
Calculus, Physics 12, and Chemistry 12. When I started to follow this rule, it was way easier to
schedule the day instead of forcing capstone time in between other works and make myself
worry if I can't do all the work that I must do and work inefficiently. This was a big
improvement for me, because I have a weird habit of hating to change my words, but when I did,
I realized that it is not always bad to change words
What was a difficulty you encountered and how did you solve the problem?
Difficulty that I encountered was time. 6 months in my opinion was not enough time for me to
show my true potential and deducting that time in half, because of changing my topic in to
making a game after 3 months made it worse. When I thought about presenting in front of people
from my future job, I wanted to impress them so that I know that there will be a chance for me. I
have a regret that if I had started making a game earlier, I could’ve impressed others.
What is one thing about your finished project you wish you could change? Why?
What I have would’ve liked to change is that I would have added more components to the
tutorial.
I have not thought about making a main screen, because main screen of the game is something
that players first see in the game and well-organized main screen is a requirement for good game.
Coming with the name of the game, because my game does not have a name and if I do not have
a name, it is hard for me to explain what my game is. Although, I wanted to be a name that fits
my first ever project, so I am taking time to think about it.
What advice would you give to a student who will be completing their Capstone Project?
Do not rush through the planning process. This process is the most important part of your
capstone and if you succeed and think deeply and taking time brainstorming, that is half of your
capstone project already done.
What source from your research helped you the most?
Most of my source was YouTube. Due to the revolution of internet, I did not even go on google
or any other websites for a tutorial / question. I searched up on YouTube and it was all there.
What is one thing about your approach to your project that you wish you could change?
Why?
I wish I just went for what I wanted to do from the first instead of being afraid and wasting 2 months,
because if I had, I would’ve finished the project with time spare time which I could use to improve the
quality of the game.
