PART TWO

Work with a partner from another group. Compare what your gorillas have and have not learned
to do. Compare the gorillas’ likes and dislikes. What has Penny been teaching them to do? Use
the present perfect and present perfect progressive to discuss the gorillas.
Example:
A: Koko has not learned to talk, but she has been using human sign language.
B: Ndume hasn’t learned to talk either. He hasn’t learned to communicate with sign
language. He has been using gorilla gestures and vocalizations.

Some people don’t believe these animals are really communicating. What do you think?
