Introductory Message
With the current situation now, your sources of information depend mostly on
what is available in your community. If you live in the city, you may have the access
of a good internet connection or if you live in the province, the television and radio
are there for you. There are still lots of other sources that you might be using right
now especially when you are going to research on a certain topic. You don’t only rely
into one available source but also other sources that will be helpful in making your
essay, article or research paper. This gives you the challenge on what will be useful
and what might cause harm to you.
Thus, this module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You
will be enabled to process the contents of the learning resource while being an active
learner.
What I Need to Know This will give you an idea of the skills or competencies
you are expected to learn in the module.
What I Know This part includes an activity that aims to check what
you already know about the lesson to take. If you get
all the answers correctly (100%), you may decide to
skip this module.
What’s In This is a brief drill or review to help you link the current
lesson with the previous one.
What I Can Do This section provides an activity which will help you
transfer your new knowledge or skill into real life
situations or concerns.
1. Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s on any part of the
module. Use your English activity notebook in answering the activities.
2. Don’t forget to answer What I Know before moving on to the other activities
included in the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and in checking your
answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are through with it.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not
hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator. Always bear in mind that you are not
alone.
We hope that through this material, you will experience meaningful learning
and gain deep understanding of the relevant competencies. You can do it!
What I Need to Know
This module is created with you in mind during this time of pandemic or when
face to face learning might be impossible. You will be exploring on researching a
topic with support using two or three sources provided, e.g. newspapers, websites,
video, images, podcast, print based-material.
Researching a topic with support from print and non-print media is a skill that
a 21st century student must be able to master. With the rise of modern technologies,
news coming from fake sources also flood the internet gateways. Thus, answering
through the module helps the learner becomes a responsible reader and receiver of
news both in print and non-print sources.
After reading this module, you will be able to research information using print
and non-print media sources (EN7VC-1V-C-15), specifically:
