PSS®SINCAL (Electricity Networks) LOAD FLOW

- Load Development

Introduction
 Calculation of voltages, currents and powers over the whole network
 Loading of electrical elements in normal operation
 Machines within controller ranges
 Voltages within the voltage range
 Analysis of weak points within failure of operation elements or changing loads
 Tool box for the development of a network concept

Procedure of Load Flow Calculations Symmetrical Load Flow Calculation

The following steps are necessary:

• Enter the necessary network levels

• Create node and network elements for corresponding network levels

• Create a supply source with a load flow type that defines the voltage and the voltage angle.

To create diagrams of voltage curves, the following additional steps are necessary:

• Create a network element group of the voltage curve group type

• Select nodes for the diagram output: Not all nodes of the route need to be selected. The nodes that are
selected, however, will be used as starting nodes in the diagrams.

• Voltage curve must contain a unique network route to create a voltage curve diagram.

Unbalanced Load Flow Calculation

For asymmetrical load flow calculations, the Asymmetrical Model for Calculation Method first has to be switched
ON. Then the following additional steps are necessary:

• Enter negative-phase and zero-phase sequence data for network elements

• Define the phases for network elements

• Define the coils for transformers

• Enter neutral point impedances

LAB EXERCISES
PRACTICING WITH INDIVDUAL ELEMENTS
TASK 01: Draw the following network in PSS Sincal as shown below and calculate the load
flow calculations in order to get the input and output parameters of the network.
LOAD FLOW:

STEP 01: Make a network level of let’s suppose 380 KV as shown in following figure:

 Go to network level:

 Create a new network level fill the following data and click ok:
 Create the following network in Sincal,
 Network level=380kV
 What is ‘in feeder’ for?
 LF: voltage and angle
 Change v and delta
 Place an “Infeeder” and a bus-bar. Put the following data in infeeder:
 Sk” = 0.000001
 Sk” max = 0
 Sk” min = 0
 R/X = 0
 R/X min = 0
 R/X max = 0
 Vc=0
 Vc min = 0
 Vc max = 0
 Load flow type = |Vsrc| and Delta
 V = 1.02 pu

 Transfer the network into network level previously made. Select the network and click on network
level made and click yes.
 Go to Annotation and filter
 Go to load flow settings

 Run the load flow

 After running the load flow you will be able to the following results in the network

 Add load,
 P=50MW
 Pf = 0.9pf
 Load flow type = P and Q constant
 Load input = P, cosφ and v
 Voltage = 380.0 kV

 Again calculate the load flow

TASK 02: Draw the following network in PSS Sincal as shown below and calculate
the load flow calculations in order to get the input and output parameters of the
network.
Tabular view of the diagram

 Put the following data into the “infeeder” block.

 Put the following data into the “Line” block.

 Put the following data into the “Load” block.

 Finally, Run the load flow calculation, analyze the results and conclude the lab in your own words.
