Module 2.1

Assessing Body Composition


I. Course Outcome : CO2. Assess factors that motivate healthy choices about physical
activity and nutrition behavior as a lifetime pursuit.
II. Learning Outcome/s : CO2.1 Examine individual weight management related to body
composition and monitoring individual’s diet and nutrition plan.
III. Time Frame : 3 hours
IV. Introduction/Outline:
In this session, you will be measuring your height (inches) and your weight (pounds) for
your BMI (Body Mass Index).
Body Composition- refers to the fat and not fat components of the human body; important in
assessing recommended body weight. Body Mass Index- a technique to determine thinness and
excessive fatness that incorporate height and weight to estimate critical fat values at which the
risk for disease increases.

3.2. Record all the foods eaten during 3-day period and do not
forget to fill in the nutritive value of the food. (Answer
Activity no.8.)
3.3. After recording, add up the nutritive values in each column
and mark the totals at the bottom of the form and;
3.4. Proceed to the given mechanics in order to get the
percentage of the nutrient intake for 3-day period.
