RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION

“Covid-19 and the New Recruitment Challenges”

SUMMARY:

Considering the worry and uncertainties regarding humankind's latest global issue, our
economy are facing strong and our society are operating almost regularly. The Covid-19
coronavirus, on the other hand, progressed from an outbreak to a full-fledged global pandemic.
The general populace is confined to their homes, posing a threat to businesses and
organizations across the board. Employment rates have dipped after reaching record levels at
the end of 2019, and many businesses are considering postponing recruiting until the condition
improves. Rather than panicking or writing off recruitment and employment as failed attempts,
firms should think about how to protect their offices and potential employees from the Covid-19
danger.

A global outbreak is reason enough to be cautious. Understanding how the threat

spreads and how people become infected with the virus, on the other hand, can help you better
prepare your hiring process. This stage of the process does not need to change whether you're
using social media, online job portals, or recruitment tools. Apart from phone conversations and
emails, there is very little communication with the candidate.

In this circumstance, digital interviews are a clear winner. You not only secure yourself,
your staff, and the candidate, but you also allow some freedom to your possibilities. Allowing
applicants to do interviews remotely, from a personal or familiar location, is a popular idea. In
fact, in the case of Covid-19, the gesture will almost certainly entice them to work for you even
more.

In a workplace context, how employees encourage one another is a critical aspect in

maintaining efficiency. We adapt and express comparable characteristics to our colleagues as a
common emotional reality. This is the primary reason why people are cautious of the virtual
office concept. If you're hiring during the Covid-19 pandemic, on the other hand, this strategy
might make sense, both for new hires and current staff. In fact, given the seriousness of the
outbreak, you might want to consider allowing your applicants and employees to work from
home until the situation calms down. In order for this crisis to pass, recruitment does not have to

come to a standstill. Employers will have limited time to hire candidates and prepare for the next
phase of expansion after the outbreak is over.

REFLECTION:

Although the pandemic has been ongoing for more than a year, its economic impact has
been tremendous. Even recruiting has become a challenge, but this makes it easy for others. As
a result, more people are opting for work from home jobs that allow them to avoid being
exposed to others while still ensuring their safety.

In this time of pandemic, it's not simple to recruit, but thanks to modernity, other
companies are hiring through digitalization, which I think is a great assistance and makes every
human job easier. This system is quite beneficial. Recruiting is now easy because to this
system. Even while there are disadvantages, the benefits of this approach surpass them.

By digitizing your recruitment process, you will be able to totally transform and improve
your candidate experience. Candidates will be able to apply for open opportunities using their
mobile phones by simply providing their LinkedIn profile or filling out a brief, user-friendly
application form.

Not to mention that by bringing attention on job advertisements, interview scheduling,

resume screening, and orientation materials, recruiters and hiring managers are drawing
attention away from their elevated, profitability initiatives. Despite the fact that digitalization has
made it easier to recruit nowadays, there is still work to be done. It still necessitates meticulous
inspection of each piece of information to ensure that each applicant's information is correct,
and at the end of the day, there is nothing wrong with the job, rather, it is flawless.

Humans will always be better at some activities, such as interviewing and training.
However, with today's technology, repeated manual processes like as document gathering,
application updates, and candidate evaluation may be completed more quickly and precisely.
That means you can automate or partly automate a procedure that was previously done by
hand.

Completely digital recruiting and selection turns a time-consuming, mainly manual

system into a smooth, consistent experience for both candidates and recruiters. Whereas you

might start with a recruitment funnel with a long list of chores to complete at each stage, you'll
finish up with a simplified path where human effort is only used when it's most effective.

Every recruiting process is unique, and the exact outcomes will rely on the nature of your
existing system and the extent to which you are changing it.
