CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

A. The Backgourd
In globalization era, home industry is increasing, especially local products.
Everyone likes snacks that are cheap and easy to find when you're hungry. Indonesia
has many interesting and delicious snacks from various regions. This makes many
people interested in culinary. Not only in Indonesia which has a variety of culinary
snacks, but other countries also have original snacks typical of their country. One of
them is Spain which has a favorite snack. Not only Spanish people but Indonesian
people also like Pastel.
Pastel is a kind of pastry made by placing the filling on top of the dough, then
folding it and closing it tightly. Pastels can be sweet or savory depending on the
filling. Pastels can be easy to carry around, just like sandwiches.
The innovation that I have is pastels with various fillings.Basically the original
Pastel already has a filling, but I will make pastels with various choices of fillings that
are delicious and and liked by various circles of society.

B. The Purpose
The followings are the purposes of our business:
 To share business experience
This business has good prospects to be developed by many people. And then,
if we share this business experience to others, Pastel will be widely known by
many people.
 To get high profit
Besides our product can be known by many people, getting high profit is one
of our goals in increasing the progress of the business.
 To increase creativity
Creatively making food from abroad with Indonesian flavors and various
variants.

Even though many competitors are range in the same business, but we
work around with the different innovation of the products that already exist.

To run a business, human resources are needed and we provide jobs to
support the business.
 To provide the best service to consumers.
Service is one of important aspects in increasing the quality of the
business. We must be better doing the excellent service to consumers.
 To maintain quality of the product.
Pastel quality is our priority so that buyers are satisfied with the Pastel we
sell.

FEASIBILITY STUDY

A. Specification of Product
Pastel can be sold in Pastel Bihun, Pastel AyamSuwirPedas, and Pastel
DagingCincangGurih.Here is the price of our product:
 Pastel BihunTelor is Rp. 2.000,00
 Pastel AyamSuwirPedas is Rp. 3.000,00
 Pastel DagingCincangGurih is Rp. 4.000,00
 Sambal is Rp 1.000,00
The price can be changeable according to market condition.

B. SWOT Analysis
Here is the SWOT Analysis of Pastel :
A. STRENGTH
1. Pastel is the famous food.
Even though Pastel are not authentic Indonesian food, but people
mare already familiar with Pastel. It can be one of our strength that can
be able to increasing our business.
2. High nutritious.
Pastel contain nutrients, especially the fillings of pastel, so they
are safe for consumption by all ages.
3. Delicious and interesting.
Because the crispness of pastel skin and various pastel fillings
make people interested to trying it.
4. Affordable price.
Just with affordable prices customers can get Pastel with
“luxurious” fillings.
5. No preservative
To maintain the purity of our product, in the production of Pastel
we do not used preservative. Because, preservative is not good for our
health.
B. WEAKNESS
1. Not lasting food.
Because it is without preservative and has high water content, it
makes our product not durable.
2. Easily damaged shape.
Because the pastel skin is crispy, the Pastel shape is easily
damaged and the Pastel filling can come out.

C. OPPORTUNITY
1. Easily to get.
Because our product is sold everywhere,it makes it easy for
consumers to buy Pastel with affordable price.
2. A lot of shops along the street.
There are a lot of shops along the street that can increase the target
of our business.

D. THREAT
1. lot of competitors from other snack products.
Because of many competitors who sell the similiar product, it
makes a threat for our business.
2. It's hard to get chicken and beef for the filling that is still fresh.

C. Marketing Mix (4P Concept)


1. Product
The product is PASTEL. It is from selected and high quality materials. Has
a delicous taste, and good for our health because it's homemade.
2. Price
The price of our product is very competitive and cheap, and it can be
bought by everyone.
3. Place
Our product can be found on bazaar in SMK Kimia PGRI Kota Serang.
4. Promotion
The promotion is carried out by spreading brochures and personal selling.

Pastel is a snack from Spain but Indonesians like Pastel. Our product is
different from the other Pastel because Pastel has different appearances, there is an
interesting fillings in Pastel. It can be consumed by all people because it's homemade.
Based on the explanation, we can conclude that :
