Compare and contrast – Blended Learning and Face-to-face classes.

Due to covid, face-to-face classes were all canceled. And people talked about how important
education is and it must be continued. That's why the government decided to continue the education of
the students by providing an alternative which is blended learning (online and modular) so that the
students won't have to attend face-to-face classes and risk their health. Blended learning is the
alternative education system, in which students would attend classes online, or they can self-study with
printed modules. But after almost 3 quarters of studying through blended learning, I realized that the
traditional classes are better than blended learning. Here are some of the differences of the two.

Face-to-face classes allow students to interact with their teachers and schoolmates and it makes
them more interactive in class and it helps in retaining the lessons they tackled. It also helps them
enhance their critical thinking skills as teachers won't give them full answers but will guide them only,
allowing them to think critically. While in blended learning students can’t focus on their learning than at
home because there are distractions. In blended learning, there's the noise, the television, the bed that
distracts the students from focusing on their studies.

Face-to-face classes also allows students to gain more knowledge and understand the lesson
better with the guide of the teachers around them, unlike in blended learning where there is no
guarantee that someone in their house can guide the students because they might be busy or they're
not knowledgeable enough to discuss the topic with the student.

Though some people like blended learning more than face-to-face classes because it is easier for
them to answer their activities and exams with just one search on google and with an internet
connection. According to Giarla in her article "The Benefits of Blended Learning", students are taught to
be independent and learn how to self-study through blended learning, it teaches independence to the
students. But that's not always the case, because some lessons are not yet introduced to the students
even before. They are not familiar with the topic and it's harder for them to understand it. However, in
face-to-face classes there are teachers who will guide and guard the students to prevent from cheating
and doing misconducts.

Those are some of the differences of face-to-face classes and blended learning. Face-to-face
teaches students to be honest and they have guides around them, while in blended learning, the only
thing that matters are being able to pass the requirements and students are not learning properly
anymore. While both of them have their similarities of making the lives of students better by teaching
them and giving them education, they are different in so many ways.
AGREE OR DISAGREE?
Should girls ask boys out?

Yes, I agree that girls can ask boys out, especially if it’s just a date or getting to know each other. We are
now in the generation where boys and girls are equal, one can also do what the other can. And that’s
why girls can also ask guys out, or for a date or a dinner, because it doesn’t matter who asks first, what
matters is that the after of that event. What will happen after that date? Well, then if the boy likes the
girl too, or they realize that they like each other, then the boy can court the girl, or they can have a
mutual understanding and talk about their feelings for each other.
Yes, it is a risk, but it’s better than regretting. It is also a win for the girl to avoid the tension of
waiting for him to initiate contact, girls should approach guys and ask them out. The guy would most
certainly be flattered by the girl's sincerity and will be even more drawn to her as a result. Any time you
ask someone out, you're taking a chance.

1. Questionable cause, claiming, without sufficient evidence, that one thing is the cause of something
else.
2. Hasty generalization, drawing a general conclusion from a sample that is biased or too small.

Make an essay answering a question below.

How can these fallacies help your critical thinking skills?

Being able to point out fallacies in a statement or article, is a great way to enhance and practice my
critical thinking skills. As it requires analyzation, logical thinking, etc. And knowing what kind of fallacy
that is also a great practice. The presence of a fallacy in an inductive argument weakens rather than
invalidates the argument. It's crucial to understand fallacies so you can stop them in your claims.
Studying fallacies also gives you a solid basis for analyzing and critiquing other types of arguments.
Creating an essay or article requires critical thinking skills, and fallacies can help you provide claims that
are true and valid.

Due to covid, face-to-face classes were all canceled. And people talked about how
important education is and it must be continued. That's why the government decided to continue
the education of the students by providing an alternative which is blended learning (online and
modular) so that the students won't have to attend face-to-face classes and risk their health.
Blended learning is the alternative education system, in which students would attend classes
online, or they can self-study with printed modules. And after almost 3 quarters of studying
through blended learning, I realized that face-to-face is so much better. Why?

Because face-to-face classes allow students to interact with their teachers and
schoolmates and it makes them more interactive in class and it helps in retaining the lessons they
tackled. It also helps them enhance their critical thinking skills as teachers won't give them full
answers but will guide them only, allowing them to think critically.

According to headspace (2020), face-to-face classes are better than blended learning
because students can concentrate harder on their learning than at home because there will be
fewer distractions, unlike in blended learning. In blended learning, there's the noise, the
television, the bed that distracts the students from focusing on their studies. It also allows
students to gain more knowledge and understand the lesson better with the guide of the teachers
around them, unlike in blended learning where there is no guarantee that someone in their house
can guide the students because they might be busy or they're not knowledgeable enough to
discuss the topic with the student.

Many students on social media are complaining about how blended learning is all about
just passing the requirements and having a passing grade and not about learning anymore.
Some people like blended learning more than face-to-face classes because it is easier for
them to answer their activities and exams with just one search on google and with an internet
connection. But I disagree with that because it just proves the ineffectiveness of blended learning
because it teaches students to cheat on exams and their activities.

According to Giarla in her article "The Benefits of Blended Learning", students are
taught to be independent and learn how to self-study through blended learning, it teaches
independence to the students. But that's not always the case, because some lessons are not yet
introduced to the students even before. They are not familiar with the topic and it's harder for
them to understand it.

Those are just simple reasons why face-to-face classes are better than blended learning.
Face-to-face teaches students to be honest and they have guides around them, while in blended
learning, the only thing that matters are being able to pass the requirements and students are not
learning properly anymore.
