Learning Environment

What
Will You Learn from This Module?

Effective teaching-learning is focused on the total development of the learner. The school
system had provided means of ensuring that effective teaching will lead to quality output –
the holistic development of the learner. It is believed that the school can be the best venue
for the learner’s total development as he spends most of his time in the confines of the
classroom.

The school is tasked with the responsibility of developing the 4H’s of the learners:
The school as a learning environment can produce versatile, intelligent, creative, self-
reliant, God-loving, nationalistic and productive citizens of our country.

This module is composed of four activities:

How did the school personnel manage the school activities
without the above mentioned facilities? What alternatives are
they using?

The school personnel manage schools any activities well. On

my opinion, I think personnel of the school use the AVR as an
alternative for conducting activities that supposed to be held in
Speech Laboratory and Music Room.

Draw the lay-out of the school site. Describe the location of the school. You may be
guided by these questions:
1. Where is the school located?
2. Is the school accessible to the students?
3. Is the school free from distractions and health hazards?
4. Are the buildings near each other?
5. Are there provisions for playground?

THE SCHOOL SITE

 The school is geographically located between urban and rural areas of Cebu City. The
said school is accessible to students, teachers and other school personnel.
 When it comes to dangers and distractions, the said school is close to a flyover, so
pupils will hear horns and car engines more frequently. Snatching has also been
reported under the flyover, where youngsters walk to and from school or home.
Furthermore, the fact that the students must cross the road is regarded as a risk. Yet
the school assigned guard personnel to assist and guide students on where and when
they should be designated to cross.
 The structures in this area are close to one another. In actuality, the SHS building is
made up of two connected buildings, and it is located next Alicia Apartelle. There are
also small buildings behind the SHS building, thus the buildings are relatively close
together.
 There is a ground court for basketball and volleyball. It can only be use when there are
events such as intramurals and PE activities and also academic activities or events.

ACTIVITY 3: My Observation Report

Write your general impression of the school as a learning environment.

MY OBSERVATION REPORT

For me the school as a learning environment can greatly affect and enhance effective learning.
The school has a pleasant ambiance and can ensure the security of the students. The school has
facilities that can affect the health, behavior, engagement, learning, growth of the other
students. The physical and emotional health of students and teachers are balanced and at some
level nurtured in a positive manner. The school has its positive environment that has the
facilities and infrastructures. There is canteen that is accessible to students, teachers and
school staffs, where it offers food that is enough to full the stomachs of the consumers in a
very reasonable price. It has also library that has a peaceful ambiance to do readings and a
very highly recommended place to study. When it comes to sports, the students were provided
courts where they can use to have fun and practice genuine camaraderie. Lastly, all the hazards
were provided alternatives such as when the students will cross the road there will be guards
who will assist them. So overall, SHS buildings and facilities is a very good learning
environment.
ACTIVITY 4: If I Will Be…
Reflect on these questions…….
1. If you will be given a chance to be the principal of the school you are observing,
what improvements would you propose to have a school campus that is conducive to
learning?

The school that I’m observing is conducive to learning. Anyhow, if I will be given a chance to
be the principal of the school I will raise the positive atmosphere at school to create more
meaningful parent involvement. Establish school norms that build values and engage students
in ways that benefits them. Also, I will create a designated time for a sports just like volleyball
and basketball in has its purposes. For me I will improve the willingness of the students in
engaging into sports in the fact that it will let the students develop leadership, teamwork,
attitude control and coordination.

2. If you will have your own classroom, what would you do to make your room more
conducive to learning?

If I will have my own classroom, I will make my room a very relaxing yet actively attractive
to enhance and help the thinking pace of students eager to learn. I will make my room as a
place for teamwork and unity among students. Also I will make it a room where it is not
religion bias, for the students to avoid discrimination among others.
