of social media addiction on students like myself, as well as why they become addicted,
and how I can assist them prevent or mitigate their addiction.
3. I think it’s Grounded Theory because it illustrates how the desire to use the Internet and

1. What is a research design?
~ The research design refers to the overall strategy that you choose to integrate the
different components of the study in a coherent and logical way, thereby, ensuring you
will effectively address the research problem; it constitutes the blueprint for the
collection, measurement, and analysis of data.
2. What is the importance of a research design in a research paper?
~ The goal of the research design is to create a study plan that allows researchers to
accurately examine the cause and effect linkages between independent and dependent
variables.
3. What do you think is the impact of an inappropriate research design in a study?
~ the quality and reliability of your final results, as well as the overall value of your
study, will be diminished.

Sampling Procedure Brief Discussion

Convenience Sampling Convenience sampling is defined as a method
adopted by researchers where they collect
market research data from a conveniently
available pool of respondents. It is the most
commonly used sampling technique as it’s
incredibly prompt, uncomplicated, and
economical. In many cases, members are
readily approachable to be a part of the
sample. Researchers use convenience
sampling not just because it is easy to use,
but because it also has other research
advantages. In pilot studies, convenience
sample is usually used because it allows the
researcher to obtain basic data and trends
regarding his study without the complications
of using a randomized sample.
Quota Sampling Quota sampling is defined as a non-
probability sampling method in which
researchers create a sample involving
individuals that represent a population.
Researchers choose these individuals
according to specific traits or qualities. They
decide and create quotas so that the market
research samples can be useful in collecting
data. These samples can be generalized to
the entire population. The final subset will be
decided only according to the interviewer’s
or researcher’s knowledge of the population.
Snowball Sampling Snowball sampling is where research
participants recruit other participants for a
test or study. It is used where potential
participants are hard to find. It’s called
snowball sampling because (in theory) once
you have the ball rolling, it picks up more
“snow” along the way and becomes larger
and larger. Snowball sampling is a non-
probability sampling method. It doesn’t have
the probability involved, with say, simple
random sampling (where the odds are the
same for any particular participant being
chosen). Rather, the researchers used their
own judgment to choose participants.

Activity#2: What is best?

1. Lived Experiences of front liners who responded during the Co Vid 19 Pandemic.
Sampling Procedure: Convenience Sampling
Explanation: Because the data is about in economical

2. The effect of too much exposure in online games to senior high school students.
Sampling Procedure: Quota Sampling
Explanation: Because in order to do the study, researchers need to create a sample involving
population which is the senior high school students who are needed in the study.

3. Wedding Practices of the Ilocanos

Sampling Procedure: Snowball Sampling
Explanation: Because the wedding practices of Ilocano is rare and unique. Ilocanos have many
traditions that is not common and sometimes people even think it’s weird because of it’s
rareness

DEEPEN

1. what is the difference between population and sample?

~ The population is the entire group about whom you wish to make conclusions. It is also
referred to as the population. A sample is a subset of the population from which you will gather
data. The sample size is always smaller than the population's overall size
2. What makes quota sampling different from snowball sampling?
~
3. What do you think is the main reason why researchers prefer to use purposive sampling in the
conduct of their research?
~ Researchers use purposive sampling when they want to access a particular subset of
people, as all participants of a survey are selected because they fit a particular profile.
