Photography One:

Part TWO: Analyzing Composition

DIRECTIONS:
You will be shown a successfully composed photographed.

Write about the photograph’s composition.

Be sure to include comments on the following:

o Nine‐Zone Grid
o Focal Point
o Point of View: High, Low, Straight on, From subject view (and what these
imply)
o Simple Backgrounds
o Framing
o Any one or more of the elements of design we discussed in class such as line,
shape/form, texture, space and color.

A full credit answer will include:


1.) A description of the photo
2.) Definitions and explanations of where the compositional device can or
cannot be seen in the work.
3.) A conclusion sentence that includes your interpretation of the
photograph and why, whether or not the photo is successful and why, and
suggestions for improvement.

You may use any paper to plan your answer, but all work to be handed in will by
typed in Word and printed on the Laser 2035N

This work should be done independently. No sharing of answers or ideas!
