JOB TITLE: AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGIST

DEPARTMENT: CITY AGRICULTURIST OFFICE-LAOAG

SUPERVISOR: ENGR. SHEILA MARIE N. OPELAC

General Summary
Responsible in facilitating the implementation of program/projects, formulates farm
developments plans; disseminate information to clienteles; assists in the conduct of research and
identifies/develops agri-business projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


• Formulates farm development plants which include crops, livestock, fisheries and rural
institutions and cooperatives covering farmers, fishermen, rural women and rural youth.

• Disseminates agricultural information to farmers, rural women and rural youth through
individual farm visits or through rural institutions by way of meetings and demonstrations, on
improved nutrition, fishing and aquatic resources management and home practices; conducts
economic farm and home surveys which are used to update data which serves as basis in
formulating plans and programs;

• Assists Subject Matter Specialists in the conduct of applice researches, assist individual
farmers/fishermen and other clienteles in preparing home and farm budget;

• Identifies and develops agri-business projects and recommends cooperative marketing


strategies to enable farmers/fishermen and other clienteles to secure loans and assists farmers
in preparing schedules of payments/repayment;

• Coordinates and monitors the implementation of agricultural plans, programs and projects in
accordance with the basic needs, resources and potentials of the barangays covered;
coordinates with the local and national agencies in securing their assistance and services;

• Promotes, establishes and maintains clientele organizations of group for multiplier effect in
the transfer of packages of technology including agrarian reform and other laws and
regulations that provide obligations, rights and privileges of farmers/fishermen and other
clientele;

• Conducts meetings, classes and trainings to upgrade the competencies of farmers and
clientele; assists in the monitoring/implementation of regulatory and quarantile laws, rules
and regulations; submits monthly and periodic accomplishment reports;

• Performs other related and such other functions as may be required.

• Skills in presenting agricultural concepts to target audience

• Ability to create and manage agri-business plans/project

Education and Experience:

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or other allied courses such as
Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries Technology and Veterinary Medicine and does not
require any experience or training related to Agricultural Technologist but requires
eligibility with relevance to RA 1080.
