KEY CONCEPT: Change

RELATED CONCEPT: Balance and Environment

GLOBAL CONTEXT: Orientation in time and space

STATEMENT OF INQUIRY: The students will understand that creating balance between different
movements may develop ability to overcome the environmental challenges

CRITERION B: Planning for performance

Students should be able to:
i. Develop goals to enhance performance (Two goals)
ii.Design, explain and justify a plan to improve physical performance and health.(3 plans)

Objective- Criterion B Task Description:

Rock climbing is an activity in which participants climb up, down or across natural rock formations
or artificial rock walls.

1. You have to develop (two) 2 S.M.A.R.T goal based on the feedback given by your teacher or
group members on climbing and acrobatics. One health related fitness goal and one Physical
fitness related goal.

Example:-

a.Develop ONE Health Goal related to improvement focusing on better health and lifestyle.
e.g. cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength or muscular endurance.(choose any one
component)
b.Develop ONE Physical fitness goal related to extreme sports (indoor rock climbing and
acrobatics) which can improve your performance in the current unit e.g. Explosive strength
for legs, agility for whole body, fingers and arm strength as a component of individual
physical fitness.

C. You need to explain how your goals are S.M.A.R.T goals. You need to explain the
different movements which are developing your ability to overcome the fear from the challenges.

2. You need to design, explain and justify (2 training plans) of indoor (rock) wall climbing
(individual plan) and acrobatic (Group plans only one) formations that demonstrate control of
movements.
Two plans for Indoor wall climbing (Individual plans)- Show progression in each plan with
degree of difficulty in climbing.
One plans for acrobatics (one plans for the whole group) – Show a range of various elements of
acrobatics 3-4 pyramids, with different rhythmic movements (cart wheel, front roll, back roll, side
roll, flip forward and backward, handstand, headstand etc).
3. Things to consider when constructing your plan:
i. What is the purpose of your plan?
ii. How will you control your movements in different environmental conditions?
iii. What kinds of physical conditioning training will be considered in your plan?
iv. How you will use mental preparation techniques implemented in your plan?
Things to be included in planning sessions:

Aesthetic/acrobatic formation: Design (one) 1 acrobatic group plan

a. SMART Goal for the acrobatics plan as per your group strength with proper use of
terminology.
b. Explain why did you choose particular exercise (Warm-up and exercise drills for good
health)
c. This task requires students to work in groups of 5 or 6 and plan acrobatic formation
(pyramid).
d. Decide on a starting and finishing elements of group formation.
e. More element : cart wheel, headstand, handstand, bridge, somersault, backflip
f. The formations are linked with linking or transitional moves. Group members have to move
into and out of the pyramid formations.
g. Consider different moves to link each pyramid: traveling rotations etc.
h. Pyramid > transition > Pyramid > transition (this should be the way of writing and
performing too)
i. Include music and theme: aerobic uniform, dolls uniform, PE uniform etc

Design (two) 2 (wall) rock climbing individual plan

- Explain why did you choose particular exercise (Warm-up and exercise drills for good
health)
- Goal for the climbing as per your own their strength with the climbing terminology.
- Decide a starting and finishing point
- Consider different routes for each climbing
What you need to send your teacher:
a. Name the equipment needed for climbing and how to use in climbing – in written form
b. Your plan for your climbing indoor wall climbing (rock) two plans and acrobatic plans formation
two plans
c. Your plan should include picture and drawings.
d. Deadline for submission is 26th Nov 2021- criterion B
e. Write your name in English
f. Language for writing summative will be Kazakh and English

Note:- Remember safety is the most important thing so help each other and ask for help from your teacher if
you need it.

Climbing and Acrobatics terminology

It’s essential to communicate properly with your belay partner so you’re both on the same page.
Here are a few of the basic climbing commands that you will encounter:

● Climber: "On belay.”

● Belayer: " Belay on."
● Climber: "Climbing."
● Belayer: "Ok climb on."
● Climber: "Taking Rest." (if you want to take a break)
● Belayer: " Got it."
● Climber: "Lower."
● Belayer: "OK, lowering."
● Climber: "Off belay."
● Belayer: "Belay off."
● Contortion acrobatics
● Tumbling
● Arch
● Ambidextrous
● balance
