1. How does science and technology differ to each other? And how they are connected?
Science is the process of exploring new knowledge methodically through observation and
experiments while technology is the fruition of these studies and the manifestations of theories as it is the
application of scientific knowledge in for practical purposes. Science attempts to answer the question “why”
by trying to explain the origin of things while technology attempts to answer “how” by creating something
useful from that knowledge. Science and technology always comes hand-in-hand.
2. Why do we need to see or to know what are the previous science and technology when in fact, we are not
using it anymore, what we have now are more advance and more convenient to use?
By studying the previous science and technology, we can understand and grapple with complex
questions and dilemmas. We can learn how past societies, systems, ideologies, and technologies were built,
how they operated, and how they have changed through the course of time. Studying the past allows us to
understand the present even better as it can provide us with insight to the origin of these technologies which
we might be less familiar.
Without the past, there is no future nor present. By looking into our past, we see patterns and we
retrieve ideas, journals, and studies that will help us develop our place for the future. We get to see the
perspective of the great minds by knowing what has been existing and by looking at how well they did before,
replicating what’s right, and looking out for errors they have made so that we will not make the same mistake
again.

3. Among the three: science, technology, and society which of them is the most important and why?
I believe that these three are equally important. They co-exist. Technology is the fruition of science.
Society is our interactions as humans, including the interactions that we engage in to figure out and to make
things. Technology is made by the people from the society for the society. Science influences society through
its knowledge and worldview and this scientific knowledge and the procedures used by scientists influence
the way many individuals in society think about themselves, others, and the environment.

4. Aside from the roles of science and technology that have been discussed what are other roles that may
be included?
Another role of science and technology that is vital these days is that these two, science and
technology, contribute to ensuring a longer and healthier life among the people. Science and technology
helps us monitor our health, provide medicine to cure our diseases and alleviates aches and pains. It provides
is extra layer of protection.
5. How would you explain paradigm shift? Give your own example.
Paradigm shift is the sudden moment of realization. It is like the hitting of a switch in the darkroom
you’re in and feeling amused by the discovery of the solution you have that is right there in front of you all
along. This could be as little as a sudden realization of a shortcut solution to a math problem or as life-
changing as attaining enlightenment, reaching a certain spiritual awakening and seeing things differently
because of the sudden shift of reality through your perspective.
