Position Paper: The Role and Importance of the Physical

Plant and Facilities of the School

As a student school facility can actually have a substantive impact on learning process.
School facilities can be defined as those things that enable the teacher to do his/her work very
well and helping the learners to learn effectively. In my school, school facilities are the problem
of some students, especially the College students who don’t have a laboratory, and lack of books
and others Facilities or buildings. The school doesn’t have laboratory/Library that is very
essential for the Future educator. It also lacks of books. The quality of public school facilities
was important to the discussion about school infrastructure. We were not just speaking about the
buildings themselves, but what we need these buildings for the knowledge creation. The quality
of a school’s environment and its facilities has a strong influence on students’ learning. All
school facilities and grounds shall benefit the students, faculty members, and other stakeholders.
Basically, when we choosing a school for our children for example, parents should
consider the facilities provided by each school in order to select the best school for their
children’s development. To gain knowledge and to enhance their capacity as an individual. So,
we must consider the school’s facilities in order to give best quality education to our children.
So, every school should be equipped with proper facilities for the students and teachers, such that
an environment conducive to learning is created. A school is actually a home away from home
for any student. During student life most of the waking hours of any student are spent at school,
learning anything and everything. Students focus better when they’re comfortable, are more
likely to attend classes, why? Because of modernized facilities, When I was in secondary school
I found that there were some of physical facilities like classes with desks and chairs, I realized
that having the presence of school physical facilities motivates students to learn more. School
opens up a lot of opportunities for young people because it is the one place where they go to get
new life skills and experience. School is somewhere where young people are able to practice
their diversity, so therefore having a school facility can engage people or student to learn.
In support of this, Hallak (1990), identified facilities as the main factor contributing
to academic achievement in the school system. They include the school buildings, classroom,
libraries, laboratories and recreational equipment among others.
For whatever purposes these facilities are utilized, still it should use to providing better
service to the students, school employees, faculty, and administrators. Lack of facilities limits the
ability of a student to achieve various learning and extracurricular activities. Secondly, a lack of
facilities has a negative impact on a teachers’ job satisfaction, which can lead their motivation to
teach so weak. Once again School facilities are important and its play a key role in creating a
safe school environment.
