COMPLIANCE CHECKLIST UNDER FACTORIES ACT, 1948
S.NO. Compliances To Be Ensured
1 Compliance with section-11 regarding following :-
a)      Cleaning of floor with disinfectant once in every week.
b)      Effective method of drainage for removing water from the floor.
c)      White wash or colour wash once in every period of 14 months.
d)     Surface repaired or painted once in every 5 years & cleaned once in every period of 14 months
and if washable should be washed at least once in every period of 6 months.
e)      All doors windows painted or varnished atleast once in every 5 years.

2 Compliance with section 13 regarding proper arrangement of ventilation and arrangements:-


a)      walls and roofs should be of such material for maintaining reasonable temperature.
b)      High temperature processes are separated from the work room.
c)      Insolating the hot parts.

3 Compliance with section 17 regarding proper lighting arrangement


a)      all the glazed windows and skylights should be cleaned.
b)      Prevention of glare from source of light.

4 Compliance with section 18 regarding drinking water :-


a)      pure water at suitable points.
b)      Those points should be atleast 6 meters away from washing place, spittoons and toilet.
c)      
5 Compliance with section 19 regarding maintenance of toilets :-
a)      should be away from workroom and properly ventilated.
b)      A sweeper should be employed exclusively.
c)       It should be cleaned and washed with suitable disinfectant.

6 Compliance with section 20 regarding proper arrangements for spittoons


it should be in sufficient numbers and hygienic condition.
7 Compliance with section 21 regarding fencing of machinery
The machinery and all their parts should be fenced by safeguards.

8 Compliance with section 22 regarding safety in work on or near machinery in motion.


Specifically trained adult male worker will clean lubricate or adjust any part of machine in
motion.

9 Compliance with section 23 regarding employment of young persons on dangerous machines.


All young person’s should be well trained and supervised by a competent person.

10 Compliance with section 33 regarding pits, sumps and opening in floors :-


It should be securely covered or properly fenced.

11 Compliance with section 34 regarding excessive weights:-


No person should be allowed to lift the excessive weight within the premises of factory.

12 Compliance with section 35 regarding protection of eyes.

13 Compliance with section 38 regarding precaution in case of fire


14 Compliance with section 44 regarding facilities for sitting
15 Compliance with section 45 regarding first aid facility
a) At least one first aid box for every 150 workers at any time in the factory should be there.
b) a responsible person certified in the first aid treatment for more than 500 workers
ambulance room with medical and nursing staff should be there.

16 Compliance with section 47 regarding shelters, rest rooms and lunch rooms.

17 Section 48- There should be Creches where more than 30 women workers are employed.

18 Section-52- Extra wages for overtime for working for more than 9 hours a day or more than 48
hours a week.
the total number of hours of work in a week, including overtime, shall not exceed sixty (60)

As per the Factories Act 1948, every adult (a person who has completed 18 years of age)
cannot work for more than 48 hours in a week and not more than 9 hours in a day. According
to Section 51 of the Act, the spread over should not exceed 10 hours

19 Section-61- Notice of period of work for adults showing everyday work periods should be
maintained.

Appointment of Factory Manager and Occupier of the factory under Factories Act

20 Section 62- Register of adult workers or a muster roll should be there in the factory.

21 Whether the returns are submitted on time to the concerned various authorities.

22 Whether notice to the authorities regarding accidents causing death or preventing work for
more than 48 hours is given.
1. Issue appointment letters for all the existing employees, create employee files and store necessary
documents about employees.

2. Generate employee code for employees an issue ID cards.

3. We need to categorize the employees at the factory like Management Employees, Non management
employees (workmen), trainees, contract staff etc.

4. Complete the Factory license activities
