Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in MAPEH VI (Music)
I. Objective
Connect the relationship of the first and last measure in an incomplete
measure through conducting.
II. Subject Matter
Content Standards: Demonstrates understanding of the concept of rhythm by
applying notes and rests, rhythmic patterns and time signature.

Performance Standards: Responds to beats in music heard with appropriate


conducting patterns.
Topic: Connecting the Relationship of the First and Last Measure Through
Conducting

Concepts:
A. Number of beats in each measure differ according to time signature. The
start of the songs with incomplete/broken measure is indicated by its time
signature.
B. The relationship of the first and last measure can be shown through
conducting.

C. In conducting with an incomplete/broken measure, we will not always start


at the down beat. In order to make it complete, the last incomplete
measure is just the continuation of the first measure.

III. Procedures
A. Review:
Let the pupils sing “Early to Bed” with musical score.
Ask: What is the time signature of the song?
What is the value of notes and rests used in the song?
B. Motivation:
Supply words related to the following terms:

C. Presentation
1. Show the musical score of “To the Falls of Pagsanjan”

Ask: What is the time signature of the song?


How many beats are there in the first measure?
How many beats are there in the last measure?
In what beat will you start singing?
In what beat will you end singing?

2. Show the musical score of “Hunting Song /Mangaso Tayo”


Ask: What is the time signature of the song?
How many beats are there in the first measure?
How many beats are there in the last measure?
In what beat will you start singing?
In what beat will you end singing?

D. Application
1. Guided Practice (Individual Activity):
Supply the missing note or rest in each measure.
2. Group Practice
Divide the class into four groups.
Give them a copy of song with simple musical score.
Let them connect the first measure to the last measure through
conducting as they listen to the music.
(Presentation by group.)

E. Generalization
Ask: What is the relationship between the first measure and the last
measure of a broken measure song?
In what beat will you start singing and conducting in a broken
measure song?
IV. Evaluation
Tell whether the following measures start and end in the FIRST, SECOND,
THIRD or FOURTH beats.
