HE Climbing Film Pipe Evaporator (Model: BP 210) has been designed for student demonstration
T on climbing film evaporation process. This floor standing pilot-plant unit consists mainly of an evaporator
tube, a feed tank, a feed pump, a cyclone separator, vessels for distillate and concentrate, and a
vacuum pump. The unit is suitable for the evaporation and concentration of heat sensitive products such as
milk, fruit juices, etc. Using the existing laboratory steam supply students will conduct experiments to study the
effects on evaporation rate of feed flow rate and temperature, and evaporator temperature and pressure. Students
will also study the effect of process parameters on the evaporator economy.
The dilute feed from the feed tank enters the bottom tube and discharge at a high velocity from the top.
