On order:
Xendros’ Tasks
- Xendros will trade items in exchange for tasks. She isn’t willing to trade for the more expensive
items until the party has completed the easier missions first.
- Common: Spread rumors among the town that the dwarves’ have been hiding the results of the
mine for themselves, and don’t plan to share its wealth with Saltmarsh.
o This will cause a riot against the dwarves after 1 week.
- Uncommon: Publicly accuse the dwarves of hoarding and try to cause a riot of humans against
them.
o Needs a DC 10 persuasion check to convince some humans to join you in a riot. If they
get a DC 15, one of the humans will attack, and a brawl starts. 10 human commoners
against 5 dwarf commoners
o The guard will show up during or after the brawl, and as they are Loyalists, will attempt
to arrest the instigators. The PCs are their chief suspects, as they too are outsiders
(they’ll also arrest a couple of humans they think are smugglers)
- Rare: Murder one of the dwarves, and plant evidence that a local did it.
- Very Rare: Murder the dwarf Manistrad Copperlocks
- Very Rare: Try to capsize the mine with explosives
- Very Rare: Find an Apparatus of Kwalish
Tracking the Smugglers
- If the party chooses to find the leader of the smugglers (Gellan Primewater);
- The PCs can learn from the tavern after a week that a few smugglers have ties to Gellan, but
there is no proof he’s done anything wrong
- Gellan Primewater has lost one of his crews, and they were smuggling 5 black pearls (worth 500
gp each)
- Gellan has posted a reward to find the missing crew, for 500 gp.
- The crew was set upon and captured by four ogres, who work for a young black dragon named
Wyrvrex
- The ogres have captured the smugglers, and already eaten most of them; only three remain,
tied up and being saved for dinner
- Wyrvrex has taken the pearls to her lair, not far from the lizardfolk lair. The ogres can give
directions to it. The smugglers don’t know where it is, though they did see the handoff of the
pearls to Wyrvrex
- Without the pearls, there isn’t enough evidence to incriminate Gellan, and the guard must let
them go (Gellan only gives out half of his reward if the pearls aren’t returned to him, saying
“Because the cargo of fish was not recovered”)
- The smugglers won’t incriminate Gellan, but they will reveal that a common hand-off spot for
smuggled goods is the Tower of Zenopus
- Gellan always has his four guards (berserkers) with him
Danger at Dunwater
- The lizardfolk shamans are secretly serving Wyrvrex, and hope to foil the queen’s alliances and
bring the entire tribe into the dragon’s fold
- If the PCs succeed in convincing the Queen of an alliance, the shamans take action while the PCs
are away; the call Wyrmrex to aide them in taking control of the tribe
- If the PCs do not return to aide in the battle, the dragon and shamans have succeeded in killing
the Queen, Suariv, and her captains. The rest swear fealty to Wyrmrex, and abandon plans to
war with the Sahuagin
- If the PCs do arrive, the lizardfolk have managed to drive off Wymrex, at the cost of 4 lizardfolk,
5 giant sea eels, 2 locathah, and 3 merfolk. The remaining locathah and merfolk salvager are
alive but now to weak to fight. However, the shamans and the koalinth (who also serve
Wyrmrex) have moved into the lair, trying to kill the Queen to seize the tribe
