Enjoy stitching my twelve monthly Gentle Domesticity blocks throughout 2016!
May each one bring you joy and satisfaction as you embrace the beauty and
privilege of being a home-maker.

There’s no quilt pattern at the end, though I may well bring all my blocks
together that way by year’s end. Display them how best suits your home, your
heart, and your skill.

Make “Gentle Domesticity” with a heart for home, and in celebration of your
womanhood.

A new block will be shared on the 5th of each month during 2016.
Be blessed!
Tips for stitching and applique:

Trace the reverse applique shapes onto the smooth side of a piece of fusible
applique paper, leaving ½” between each shape.
I personally use Vliesofix but your local quilt shop may have something similar
if you can’t find that one.
Cut out each shape ¼” away from the traced line.
Fuse the shape onto the wrong side of whatever fabric scrap you’ve chosen for
that part of the design.
Cut out each shape along the traced line and peel away the Vliesofix.

Trace the stitchery design across the centre of your background fabric, but omit
the applique sections.
With a warm dry iron, fuse the applique shapes onto the traced fabric where
indicated on your pattern sheet.
Optional: Fuse a piece of fabric stabiliser, such as Whisperweft or Weaveline,
begin your block and you’re ready to stitch!

For information on how I prepare a block for applique you can see my tutorial

Details:

Small details like adding a line of running stitch around the applique shapes
after the blanket stitch is finished, and around or inside some parts of the
stitchery sections give depth and impact to your block. Running stitch is very
quick and well worth the extra minutes.

Scrap busting:

You only need small scraps of fabric for the applique in each of the 12 blocks,
so take a little time to gather some offcuts from your favourite prints in a blend
of colours which make your heart sing, and keep them together in a box or zip
lock bag for easy access each month.

NOTE: I added a 1” hexie to the bottom left of this design. Hexie papers are
easily obtained from your local craft shop.
