STATIC POSTURAL and DYNAMIC POSTURAL

ASSESSMENT (Overhead Squat)

Postural assessments helps to identify how we carry our bodies and

lifestyle. There could be imbalances that are going on and these
assessments helps us to evaluate ourselves and maximize our movements,
our lives. We do have habits which are uncomfortable for our bodies but
because of repetitive and carelessness, our bodies adjust in non-optimal
phases. The body could weaker each day without proper development and
this could harms in all kinds of ways.
Kinetic checkpoints are like outlines of our posture. Issues like
Pronation distortion syndrome, Lower crossed syndrome, Upper crossed
syndrome and many more are examples of unhealthy body positioning.
This could lead to dysfunctions, poor shape and pain of the body if
unattended.
Over my demonstration of the two assessments, I have realized that
people have differences and assessment is recommended to accommodate
that uniqueness. The result of my assessments were acceptable and I
know I still have to work with my posture and daily exercise. But I am
thankful that I had this opportunity to assess not only the rest of my body
but also my mindset.
Starting with the Static Postural assessment, I had my results
recorded. Not having a forward head means that the workload of muscles
attached to my spine is not so rough and holding my head well lets me
have a straight-ahead vision. My shoulders are a bit retracted but not too
retracted, I hope my shoulder blades are fine though retraction and
depression is normal. This time in the lumbo-pelvic-hip, I think I have
anteriorly tilted condition because of prolonged sitting without proper
stretching and the curvature of my spine. It surely produces back and hip
pain for me sometimes. For my knees, they are adducted and my feet
aren’t flat, I think it is from my parents.
For the Dynamic Postural assessment (overhead squat), my feet
turns out when I do the squat maybe because I lack in leg mobility and my
calves are stiff. This is also true for my knees. My lumbo-pelvic-hip has a
low back arch condition and my spine was not comfortable when I did the
squat. It felt really heavy. My arms fell forward too and my shoulders were
elevated while my feet flattens out. Fortunately, my hips move
symmetrically when I did it, meaning there is balance between my left and
right pelvic muscles and bone.
All in all, I am happy about the assessments. They help to evaluate
myself and make corrections, helped me construct myself to be better. The
only problem to this is if I do not take note of how to adjust myself for my
body. Habits and lifestyle as a whole is difficult to change, but I know I can
do this. With proper exercise, healthy eating and an aware and teachable
mind, I can push through a healthy body and amazing figure in the
process. I am very grateful for this opportunity.
