Athlete Interview:

My special athlete interviewee was my uncle, Mr. __________ who was a

Palarong Pambansa Player in Sipa Takraw, SCUAA player, and now he is a Regional
Officiating Official of the same sport. He has been engaging himself to Sipa Takraw and
coached countless players. When asked about his preparations before any game or
indulging into sport, he said that when he was still an active athlete and with a team,
they would be up early in morning and do warm ups and they’ll play the whole
afternoon. He said that it is important to make your body ready before any activity. He
also added that being used to playing outside or being exposed to the sun helped him
to adapt to the sport and make his body work efficiently. Playing for eight hours a day
could be tiring but with proper warm up, athletes’ bodies could withstand any rigorous
training like the specific activities to master everyday e.g. tapping, stretching, spiking
for Sipa Takraw.

My uncle did not experience any serious injury because he would always do the
proper pre-engagement activity. He said that he would have cramps only because
sometimes his body will not be ready from being dormant for a week or so. There were
several moments like this and when he gets to the game, he would experience cramps
and he said they’ll hurt so much. He advised that to prevent cramps, daily exercises
and practice should be done so the body would be ready.

Exercise Enthusiast Interview:

Mr.__________, my father, was my second interviewee. He is a cyclist and an
exercise enthusiast. I asked him about his preparations for every cycling session that he
does and he replied that his preparations included stretching and his own warm up for
15 minutes before cycling up the hill or any other locations. He praises the Lord for the
safety and for keeping him from containing any injuries. He also added that through
guidance of the Lord and presence of mind he has avoided accidents or injuries. “When
you are careless of handling your bike, when you pass through slippery roads, there are
possibilities of sliding and causing damage.

He also added that when he does proper warm up exercises, his body would
easily adjust to the activity and at the end of the day there would be no “ pamaol”, and
he remains fresh. He shared his technique and diet like abstaining from eating a night
before his cycling activity early the next morning at 4:00 am. This has been his
preparation because he would feel so heavy and will have difficulty in breathing when
he cycles up the hill for instance. Before going, he would also drink a cup of warm
water to heat his stomach up and after cycling, only then would he have his coffee and
bread.
