GETS REAL

T HE BIG NEWS is we were able to open the Tidewater Center

in August for outdoor performances. This landmark occasion

was the result of seven years of brainstorming,
grants-writing, surveying, machinery renting,
civil engineering, planning board meetings, and
fundraising.
Now that the former industrial site is cov-
ered with clean fill, we can proceed with
implementing the approved Phase One
Site Plan.

A FTER 18 MONTHS WITH NO LIVE SHOWS, we

reassembled the performance company to rehearse and
present our 20th annual Esopus Creek Puppet Suite, now at
the Tidewater Center. Despite the prevalent late summer
downpours, the Suite had a successful run enjoyed by many.
Thanks to the performers, site crew and sponsors that made
it all possible.
In addition, the touring company delivered live performances
at 16 events throughout the Hudson Valley and Catskills.
We also conducted workshops, danced in parades, and at a
farmers’ market. Next season — our 40th! — will feature weekly
shows and community events at the Tidewater Center, plus
regional touring. We plan to revive several scarcely-seen shows
from the archives and continue to create new work.
