PROJECT VISIT

Full marks=25 [CO-1=10 marks, CO-2=15 marks]

You all are divided into several groups to visit the construction site to collect information for
writing your report. The group is given a task where they work together for a written report
to be submitted within 7 days after site visit. Pls include your site group photo in report.

TASK
Usually, the construction project has several activities at site. Your task is to collect
information relevant to your area of inquiry. Your group is responsible to seek information
according to the category assigned to you.

AREA OF INQUIRY
1. PROJECT ACTIVITY – Project duration, client and contractors, project cost,
problems on site, etc [Group nos. 1A, 1B, 1C, 1M]

2. CONCRETE USED FOR CONSTRUCTION – Types of concrete, aggregates

used, strength of concrete, mix proportioning, etc [Group nos. 1D, 1E, 1F, 1N]

3. USE OF STEEL ON SITE – Structural & reinforcing steel, strength of steel,

supplier, testing & acceptance, etc [Group nos. 1G, 1H, 1I, 2M]

4. EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE ON SITE – Heavy & light machineries, purpose of

use, choice of use, name & brand, special equipment, etc [Group nos. 1J, 1K, 1L, 2A]

5. TIMBER USED ON SITE – Types of timber, source, name, properties, application

of timber, etc [Group nos. 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E]

6. SPECIAL ISSUES RELATED TO PROJECT – Special materials, significant

details of project, purpose of project, imported materials, non-conventional method of
construction, etc. [Group nos. 2F, 2G, 2H, 2N]

7. APPLICATION OF MASONRY WORKS ON SITE – Types of masonry used,

different applications of masonry, related properties, etc. [Group nos. 2I, 2J, 2K, 2L]

 Collection of safety shoe and helmet from Civil Eng Lab= 8am
 Site visit = 900 to 1100am
 Return of shoe and helmet to lab=12 noon
 Mode of transport: UNIMAS Bus at 830am
