you have.
5 You are going to design and create a graphical user interface informing others about
the International Space Station.
Follow the steps to create your interface screen.
Step 1
Step 2
Use these websites and other reliable sources to research information about
the International Space Station.
Write some questions to help your research. Here are some examples:
• Why is the International Space Station there?
• Who works there?
• What is life like on the ISS?
•
•
•
Step 3
Record relevant and interesting information you find, including links,
images and videos.
Step 4
Plan and design a mock up (draft) showing the elements you would like to include
on your interactive page.
The criteria checklist will help you.
Criteria checklist
An effective graphical user interface needs to be:
• interactive (with user input) • displaying icons and images
• attractive • easy to understand
• simple to navigate • useful and has a purpose.
Step 5
Your teacher will help you choose a suitable program to design your screen.
Programs you could use include:
Step 6
Share your graphical user interface with others.
Step 7
Evaluate your design.
How successful were you in creating a user-friendly interface?
6 The interface you created in Question 6 needed to contain many design elements
for it to be successful (see the criteria checklist in Step 4 for ideas). Use the pyramid
ranking organiser to rank the design elements in order of importance; the most
important being at the top. Explain your decisions.
By photographing a black hole, scientists have now ‘seen what they once
thought was unseeable’.
Brainstorm other things that are unseeable. They could be here on Earth
or out in space.
