Standards: system
B.Performance
Standards:
C. Learning f.Compare the planets of the solar system (S6ES-IVg-h-6)
Competency
I. Unpacked 23. Describe the characteristics of inner planets.( Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars,
Learning Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune) (K)
Competencies: 25. Compare the relative sizes and composition of the inner and outer planets.(U)

II. Subject Matter The Solar System

A. Concept The eight planets in the solar system differ in their masses, densities tilt
number of satellites, atmosphere and striking features.
Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars are the inner planet. They have high
densities because they consist mostly rocks.
Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus are the outer planet. They are largely
gaseous, hence their densities are much lower.
B. Materials Task card, Cartolina, marker, pictures, earth’s model, globe, modeling clay,
C. References K-12 CG, Into the Future science 6 pp 196-198, 21 st Century Science 6 pp. 300-

going to the outer space. Let see whose spaceship is going to visit all the planets
in our solar system. (Launch Me!)

is the rays of the sun receives by each zone.
________2. The earth’s rotation and revolution cause the seasons
on earth.
________3. The earth does not rotate on its axis.
________4. The tilted position of the earth causes the four seasons.
________5. Wind system.

2. Motivation
Are you familiar with the game Name it and win it? Today you are to
play name it and win it, Every pictures I flash, you will find out the name or
message from it.

• From the words that you have form, where can we find all of them?
B. Explore  Today, you are going to find out the different planets in the solar system.
We are going to watch a video about the Solar system
 Before watching the video, what are the standards we should follow?
(Keep quiet/ understand what we watch)
 Here are some questions you should take note so that while watching,
you will be guided on the things you should remember
1. What are the outer planets?
1. What are the inner planets?
2. Describe the inner planets?
3. Describe the outer planets?

• Now you are going to conduct an activity

1. Set the standards

1.Cooperate
2. Share useful ideas
3.follow instruction very well
4.work harmoniously
5. Be careful in using sharp object
6. Be conscious of the time ( may add other standards)

1. Activity proper
• Allow 15 minutes for group activity
• Check pupils comprehension of the activity by asking probing
question
while moving around.

Group 1
Task Card
Arrange Us!
Materials:
Pictures of sun and planets, stick, styro foam, plastic tape,
Manila paper, marker
Procedure:
1. Cut the pictures, then tape the pictures on the sticks.
2. On a round Styro foam you are going to arrange the planets
according to their position in the solar system.
3. Attached or tape the description below the picture on the stick
correctly.
Questions
1.How many planets are there?
2. which planets are the inner planets?
3. Which planets are the outer planets?

Group 2
Task Card
Complete Me!
Materials:
Graphic organizer, cellphone with data, printer, scissor, glue
plastic tape.
Procedure:

descriptions, then print the pictures of the different planets and their
descriptions.
2. Complete the graphic organizer by pasting the pictures and description.

Group 3
TASK CARD

will note down incorrect answer, different answers from student or important
information that was not brought up. She will use those “gaps” as she begins to
“process” their out put . During processing ,series of questions that directly
connect with the learning objective shall be asked.

• Questions to process

2. Which is the smallest planet?
3. Which is the biggest planet planets?
4. How will you describe the inner planets?
5. How will you describe the outer planets?
