in the classroom to see how their classmates
think and respond to the questions.
What is the student learning goal(s) for this lesson idea?
Students will be able to interact with their peers in the classroom to see how their classmates think
and respond to the questions. The students will be able to break down the information from the
story to understand different parts of the questions and understand different information.
Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s):

☐ Remembering ☐ Understanding ☐ Applying ☒ Analyzing ☒ Evaluating ☒ Creating

Students will be able to create different audios, videos, pictures to share with the class to further
their understanding of questions on the topics. Students will analyze the “Horton Hears a Who”
book by Dr. Seuss to answer new questions about the story. Students will be evaluated on
understanding different material with Quizizz once the collaborative activity is completed.
How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology?

☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by
teacher direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

X Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

X Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems

and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another
class, or publishing via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation:

The students will be able to get on the assigned laptops and go to the link provided for Padlet. Next,
they will either get the option to work with a partner the whole time or they will work alone. They
will then get to complete all the questions and be able to see how their peers are thinking and
answering the questions as well. A link to the book “Horton Hears a Who” will be provided on Padlet
if students struggle and need help to look back at the book. Students will stay engaged in the
classroom because of how fun and interactive the activity is. They get to add in videos, drawings,
voice recordings and have fun with the activity. I will be able to access students’ prior knowledge as
they start learning by providing a Quizizz for my students to answer more questions to see what we
may need to work on more after we complete the activity in the class. I will also be able to access
knowledge by just looking at how students answer the Padlet questions. The lesson will be
concluded by finishing the Quizizz questions (8). Once everyone is done with the activity and the
assessment, I will be able to see what students struggle with and what they know best.
Managing student learning:
The students will already be in social learning because they are using Padlet which allows them to
collaborate with peers in the classroom and communicate with others to see how other peers think
as well.
The students will have about 30-45 minutes to complete the Padlet. Once they complete the
collaborative activity, they will then shift into a self-assessment on Quizziz, they will have about 10-
15 minutes to finish this assessment to see how much they know and remember from the book
provided.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
This lesson and two activities will support engagement by creating a fun learning environment with
the use of a collaborating and communicative activity. By creating this environment, the students get
to have different options to create answers to the different interactive questions. By using this UDL
framework, all student types of learning are reached and can be completed.
Reflective Practice:
After completing this lesson idea, I believe that this tool will be very helpful and beneficial for the
students. The students get to collaborate with their peers and see how their peers think and
complete the different interactive questions. I look forward to using this tool in my classroom
because it seems like it will be very beneficial, fun, full of information and learning time but also be
an activity that all students can feel comfortable using.
