EDUCATION PRACTICES
1. Starts from June and ends in March
- Nursery up to kindergarten (age of 4)
a. Learn basic things through drawing and other playful activities.
b. One-three hours of school and usually in morning.
2. Primary/Elementary Schools (age 6-12)
a. Usually, 6 years of schooling but same school adds an educational level.
b. Average hours spent in school is six (6).
c. The level of Primary school is grouped into two primary subdivisions in the primary
level and intermediate level.
d. Shifting of classes is done by subdivisions or by alternative (odd/even) levels.
e. Core subjects (Math,English,Makabayan) and other subjects (Science,Music,Arts and
P.E).
f. International school’s/Chinese schools have additional subjects
g. English in the teaching medium

3. Secondary School or High School (age 12-17)
a. 4 years of schooling and has 4 levels.
b. Schooling is departmentalized.
c. Hours spent in school ranges from 11-12 including vacant periods.
d. NSAT
4. Tertiary School (age 17-21)
a. Either colleges or universities.
b. Amount of time spent in schools varies depending on how many subjects will be
taken up each day and how long will each take.
c. Schooling in cosmopolitan.
d. Subjects that will be taken up depends on the academic degree program chosen by the
student.
